On Monday, a bushwalker stumbled across the remains of a woman partially buried between fallen trees in Victoria’s Macedon Regional Park.
Police, forensic experts and emergency services flooded the area, and the speculation began.
Could this be Karen Ristevski, the 47-year-old woman who had mysteriously vanished from her home on June 29? The search area had not been far from Macedon, and no missing people had been recently reported in the area.
As DNA testing was being performed, the Melbourne mother’s family were told to prepare for the worst.
On Tuesday afternoon, two detectives visited the Ristevski family home, spending roughly an hour inside with family members. They refused to comment on whether any developments had been made.
From the moment Karen Ristevski was reported missing, the case has baffled police and gripped an entire country. Here’s how it has unfolded so far.
