A man has been arrested over the disappearance of a Melbourne mother after human remains were found near the Frankston Freeway.
Forty-eight-year-old Karen Rae, who has a 10-year-old son, was last seen leaving her Adib Court home in Frankston in April 2015.
Investigators were last week searching bushland beside the freeway at Frankston North as part of their investigation into Ms Rae’s disappearance.
Police said the human remains that were uncovered have not been identified.
A 49-year-old man from Langwarrin is in custody and assisting detectives, police said.
City-bound traffic on the Frankston Freeway, between Cranbourne Rd and Seaford Rd, has been reduced down to one lane as part of the investigation.
