Joshua Jackson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and the ugliest divorce in Hollywood.

Celebrity divorces are rarely clean, but this one has gotten especially dirty.

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson are embroiled in a heated custody dispute over their five-year-old daughter, Juno.

The latest drama has sprouted from the location of their daughter's schooling. According to In Touch which obtained a May 29 filing, Jackson flagged an emergency court motion, asking a judge to ensure Juno remains at her current school in Calabasas for the next academic year.

Jackson alleges that Turner-Smith enroled Juno in a new school more than 45 minutes from his home without his knowledge or consent, violating their previous agreement to consult each other on decisions pertaining to their daughter.

He argued that this change is disruptive, especially after a period marked by their divorce and the loss of his Los Angeles home in the January wildfires.

Turner-Smith, who is set to film in London for the next year, reportedly believes that Juno's education does not require a fixed location, suggesting she could travel with her mother and learn from tutors.

Jackson's legal team, however, has said that such an arrangement would deprive Juno of the benefits of attending school.

"I started acting at a young age. I have spent a lot of time with on-set or on location tutors," the filing from Jackson read.

"Even in the best case, it cannot begin to provide a child with the same nurturing enrichment, peer relationships and social skills that a classroom and school community environment provides."

Jackson is seeking a court order to keep Juno at her current school and to require joint consent for any future school changes.

A week on from the filing, Turner-Smith posted a cryptic message to her Instagram Stories that drew attention.

The post, originally from the @netflixnmovies account, featured images of Disney villains such as Lotso from Toy Story 3 and Hans from Frozen.

The meme took aim at people who aren't as "kind" as they seem, with the caption: "Why don't you like that person? They seem so nice. You know who else seemed to be nice?"

Turner-Smith added her own curious caption that read "Stay safe out there," with a caution sign emoji.

The timing of this post has been widely interpreted as a veiled jab at Jackson by potentially comparing him to a Disney villain in the midst of their legal battle.

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson's custody battle.

The latest drama follows the actress previously accusing her ex-husband of demanding sole legal custody of their daughter and failing to provide any child or spousal support since their separation in 2023.

In documents filed February 3, 2025 and obtained by E! News, Turner-Smith claimed that Jackson has paid "$0 in guideline child/or spousal support" since the couple's separation. She added that "even though, he, at the onset of this case, hired two law firms to represent him on custody issues, seeking full legal custody of Juno".

The 38-year-old said she had done "everything" to resolve the issues but "to no avail."

"At this point, it is clear that Josh is unwilling to negotiate reasonable pendente lite spousal and child support payments to me," the filing read. "I am left with no choice but to seek this Court's intervention and file the instant motion."

Turner-Smith was seeking $8,543 monthly in child support, $28,641 in monthly spousal support, and $250,000 for legal fees.

She went on to allege that Jackson prioritised his career during their marriage, and in turn, she took on the brunt of childcare and her acting career took a backseat.

"During our marriage, I spent a significant amount of time as the primary caretaker to Juno while Josh continued to advance in his acting career," Turner-Smith wrote.

"Josh has been a successful working actor for over 30 years, while I am significantly younger and am still working hard to establish my acting career. During our marriage, Josh historically made more money than me and at times, significantly more."

In documents obtained by People, the exes settled their divorce in May 2025, with the terms of the settlement including that both parties mutually waived spousal support; they agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their daughter; Jackson would pay Turner-Smith $2,787 per month in child support (subject to annual review based on incomes); and each parent retained their own earnings and assets accumulated before, during, and after the marriage

The settlement documents also shared that Jackson was made to pay Turner-Smith an equalisation payment of $133,333 in March, along with a separate payment of the same amount as "a further and final contribution toward her attorney's fees and costs."

The couple's divorce proceedings began when Turner-Smith filed in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. There was initial disagreement about their separation date, with Turner-Smith listing September 13, 2023, while Jackson claimed it was on September 30, 2023.

Their relationship began at Usher's 40th birthday party in October 2018, after what Turner-Smith described as a "three-night stand". The couple married in August 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, on April 13, 2020.

Jackson began dating Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o in December 2023, just two months after the divorce filing. Jackson and Nyong'o's relationship ended in October 2024, with Nyong'o confirming the split in an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK.

Turner-Smith has been focused on co-parenting and her career, expressing that she's "over men" in a recent interview.

"It's an adjustment period for anyone when they split up with someone, because you're used to being with your child all the time," she told Glamour UK. "But nobody hands you a manual. Everyone's trying to figure it out. Each parent has a different life, and especially if the reason why you're splitting up is because you have different lives, it's only further complicated by how you're going to co-parent."

In response to how quickly Jackson moved on with Nyong'o after their separation, she said simply: "He can do whatever he wants".

The actress made note of his treatment of both their daughter and her.

"Just be good to Juno and be good to Juno's mum, because I'm going to be Juno's mum forever," she said.

"It's really not for me to have an opinion on his journey."

Jackson hasn't spoken publicly to the media about the split.
