Boxing Day will mark 20 years since Colorado beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her family home.
According to police, the case remains cold. But one of the jurors has come forward to claim he knows who is responsible.
Breaking strict secrecy laws, the anonymous man has spoken to ABC’s (USA) 20/20 programme about what he learned as a member of the 1999 Grand Jury, convened to decide whether the six-year-old’s parents, Jon and Patsy Ramsey, ought to be indicted over her death.
In his opinion they should have been. “Based upon the evidence that was presented I believe that was correct,” he told the interviewer.
Pushed on whether that means he knows who killed the little girl, he responded: “I highly suspect, I do.”
The eight women and four men on the panel ultimately voted in favour of indicting the couple, however the district attorney chose not to pursue charges on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
They were then exonerated by DNA evidence in 2008, two years after Patsy died from ovarian cancer.
The juror’s claim comes just days following the announcement of a renewed investigation into the case.
