Johnny Depp's legal team say Amber Heard is lying about domestic violence claims.

Johnny Depp’s attorney has responded to Amber Heard’s claims of domestic violence, claiming the actress is trying to speed up the divorce settlement through her allegations.

“Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” the attorney said, according to court documents.

Depp is out of town and did not appear in court, but was represented by his lawyer, well-known celebrity divorce attorney, Laura Wasser.

Just yesterday Heard appeared in court with a bruise on her face, claiming Depp physically assaulted her last Saturday 21 May at their apartment.

She was granted a restraining order against Depp after he allegedly smashed an iPhone into her face.

“During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me,” she said in a sworn statement.

The restraining order is in effect until June 17 and bans Depp from coming within 100 yards of the actress.

TMZ are reporting that Depp’s legal team believe they will be able to prove Heard’s allegations are false.

They believe a photo that was uploaded to Instagram on the day after the alleged attack shows her hanging with friends without any injuries. The photo has since been deleted from the platform.

The photo (pictured above), shows Heard smiling with two friends with her hair visibly covering the right side of her face where she sustained her injuries.

On Thursday, Depp's representative addressed the split in a statement to PEOPLE.

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life," the statement said.

"Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
