Jodhi Meares was a huge celebrity in the 2000s. This is her life now.

Jodhi Meares is an Australian model, fashion designer and television personality.

She is best known for launching the iconic swimwear label Tigerlily and the activewear brand The Upside, as well as for her high-profile marriage to James Packer, her stint as host of Australia's Next Top Model, and her enduring legacy in the Australian fashion industry.

Once a staple on TV and across the pages of magazines, Meares is seldom seen in the spotlight these days.

But here is what we know of her life now.

Jodhi Meares' early years, Tigerlily and The Upside.

Jodhi Meares grew up on the NSW South Coast in Merimbula, where her father owned a pub. After her parents separated, she moved to Sydney with her mother.

As a teenager, she began her modelling career, first gaining attention at just 14 and landing her big break at 16 as the face of Moove flavoured milk.

Her early success on the catwalks led to a flourishing career as a glamour model, and she even briefly joined the pop group Euphoria, penning their song 'Karma'.

Jodhi launched Tigerlily Swimwear in 2000, inspired by her love of the beach and surf culture. Tigerlily quickly became a cult favourite, known for its boho-chic aesthetic and worn by celebrities like Nicole Richie and Cameron Diaz.

In 2007, she sold Tigerlily to Billabong for an undisclosed sum.

Jodhi then identified a gap in the market for stylish, functional activewear while living between New York and Hawaii.

This led her to found The Upside in 2014, a brand that quickly gained international traction for its fashion-forward approach to athleisure.

"My vision for The Upside came to me when I was spending time between NYC, Hawaii and Sydney. While deepening my yoga practice, I was witnessing the powerful infancy of the athleisure movement, that was taking over studios in a global sweep," she told The Upside's website.

"I spent the next two years closely observing women en masse at yoga studios and gyms at the beginning of what would become a defining moment in the multimillion-dollar health and wellness space."

The Upside is now a global name, stocked in leading retailers and worn by celebrities and athletes alike.

Jodhi Meares' personal life and controversies.

Jodhi's personal life has often made headlines. She married billionaire James Packer in 1999, but the marriage ended in 2002.

"My first husband, James Packer, is the smartest person I know," she reflected in 2016 with the Sydney Morning Herald.

"I often talk to him about all sorts of things, including business. Without question, he is always the smartest person in the room. So it's amazing to be able to have him and there's nothing that he doesn't understand, there's nowhere where he can't go."

She later quietly married photographer Nicholas Finn Tsindos in Hawaii in 2015, though the relationship lasted just over a year. Jodhi has also been linked to singer Jon Stevens, but has largely kept her private life out of the spotlight in recent years.

Jodhi became the host of Australia's Next Top Model in 2007. Her tenure was marred by nerves and stage fright, culminating in her dramatic withdrawal from hosting the live finale in 2008 — a move widely criticised in the media.

The backlash was intense, and Jodhi ultimately left the show and was replaced by Sarah Murdoch.

In 2014, Meares pleaded guilty to a high-range drink driving offence in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

After drinking at a local eatery, Meares crashed her Range Rover into three parked cars, rolling the vehicle. Police recorded her blood alcohol level at 0.181 — nearly four times the legal limit. She was fined $1,100 and disqualified from driving for a year.

In 2015, Meares participated in a Harper's Bazaar Australia feature that became the subject of widespread criticism and mockery. The piece was a '24 hours with Jodhi Meares' diary published in the January–February 2015 issue of the magazine.

The controversy stemmed from the perceived out-of-touch and privileged tone of the diary.

Media commentators labelled the account as "ridiculous," highlighting her diet and multiple yoga sessions a day.

Where is Jodhi Meares now?

Today, Jodhi Meares is thriving as the founder and creative force behind the uber successful, The Upside.

She recently sold her Watsons Bay cottage for a record price and relocated for a more relaxed coastal lifestyle.

Meares traded her flashy Sydney Harbour life for a quieter setting in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. She purchased a modernist-inspired, four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Brooklet, about 15 minutes inland from the beach between Ballina and Byron Bay.

This property, designed by Seven Mile Architects, sits on a lush 3.78-hectare block and features its own avocado, citrus, banana and papaw orchard, as well as an art studio.

Meares continues to lead as the founder and creative director of The Upside, her globally recognised activewear brand.

Jodhi's personal life in the Byron hinterland mirrors her ethos. She is a dedicated yogi and meditator, prioritising health and wellness in her daily routine.

Now living with her beloved dog Soda, Meares enjoys the slower pace and laidback lifestyle of her hinterland home, as she focuses on the future.

"Don't dwell on the past and [I] am lucky like that, I am not someone who does that, but I definitely do tend to live in the future more than I should as I am constantly in planning with the business and where we need to be," she told Body + Soul in 2019.

"There is an old saying 'If you live in the past you will be depressed, if you live in the future you will be anxious, and if you live in the now you will be calm.' I think that is true."
