Katy got hundreds of calls asking if she was Jimmy Barnes' daughter. They've just shared the truth.

Jimmy Barnes may be known for his rock career but, these days, his pride and joy is his eight kids.

On Monday night, the 68-year-old publicly acknowledged the existence of a long-lost daughter, Katy Lee Carroll, who came into his life five years ago.

The decision to go public reportedly came after Carroll was inundated with anonymous phone calls from people asking if Barnes was her father.

Jimmy wrote on Instagram, "Christmas is all about family and we would like to introduce my daughter Katy Lee, who has been in our lives for the past five years.

"Katy is a wonderful woman and since discovering that I was her biological father, our family and extended family have loved getting to know her. It's been heartwarming to see good relationships growing with her sisters and brothers."

He added that he and the rest of his family have "always respected" Katy's decision to keep her family life private, and will continue to support her in the years to come.

Carroll also released her own statement, saying: "I want to be open about something very personal… Five years ago, I discovered that my biological father is Jimmy Barnes.

"Since that moment, I've been embraced by the Barnes family with love, warmth and incredible understanding. Over these years, we've slowly, carefully, gotten to know one another and this journey has been one of patience, respect and tenderness."

She confessed that the journey had brought up "complex emotions" and issued a plea for understanding and privacy.

"While the details of my relationship with Jimmy and the Barnes family are private, I feel compelled to share my gratitude for the love and care they have shown me," she continued.

Carroll called it an "extraordinary gift" to be welcomed into the Barnes family, and thanked them for their ongoing support.

"This discovery, though exciting, has been approached with great thoughtfulness, not only for me, but also for my children and all of our extended families.

"As we continue to nurture these relationships, I remain committed to protecting our privacy, allowing each of us to grow and heal in our own time."

How many children does Jimmy Barnes have?

Jimmy Barnes is the proud father of eight children — David Campbell, 51, Mahalia Barnes, 42, Eliza-Jane Barnes, 40, Jackie Barnes, 38, Elly-May Barnes, 35, Amanda Bennett, Megan Torzyn and Katy Lee Carroll.

David Campbell was born on August 6, 1973, to Jimmy and his mother, Kim Campbell.

Like his father, David is a successful singer and stage performer. David was raised by his maternal grandmother, believing her to be his mother until he was 10 years old. Despite their complicated early relationship, David and Jimmy have since formed a strong bond, often performing together and recording duets.

Out of all of Jimmy's children, David is most in the public eye, and the Today Extra host frequently speaks about his dad. In 2024, the father and son jointly accepted a Father of the Year award presented by 'The Fathering Project'. During his speech, David called Jimmy his "North Star".

"He had a lot of trauma, a lot of abuse, which he's written about; he's had to overcome all of that and, of course, he had a lot of problems in his life," said David.

"But the fact that he then became a parent with Jane, to my brothers and sisters and to me, has been the thing that he's been able to improve his past and change the future by raising us and giving us the tools that we needed to be better."

Mahalia Barnes, born on July 12, 1982, is the eldest daughter of Jimmy and his wife Jane Mahoney.

She began her musical career as a member of 'The Tin Lids', a children's pop group with her siblings.

Mahalia has since released solo studio albums and frequently collaborates with her father.

Eliza-Jane Barnes, also known as EJ, was born on December 22, 1984. She is the second daughter of Jimmy and his wife Jane Mahoney.

She is a singer and actress who was part of 'The Tin Lids' at age seven.

EJ has appeared in music videos and performs live with her father. She married Jummy Metherell in March 2024.

Born on February 4, 1986, Jackie is Jimmy's son, whom he shares with Jane Mahoney.

He's a multi-talented musician, working as a drummer, singer, and songwriter.

Jackie has toured with his father's band and currently plays with the Australian rock band 'Rose Tattoo'.

Elly-May Barnes.

Elly-May Barnes, born on May 3, 1989, is also a singer. Her mother is also Jane Mahoney.

She has recorded duets with her father and has worked on ABC's 'Headliners', creating a platform for musicians with disabilities.

Amanda Bennett and Megan Torzyn.

In 2010, Jimmy discovered he had two more daughters, Amanda Bennett and Megan Torzyn.

Both women were in their mid-30s when they contacted Barnes about their paternity. Interestingly, Amanda was born in the same year as David Campbell.

Both Barnes and his wife Jane have welcomed the daughters into their large blended family with open arms.

In December 2024, Jimmy publicly acknowledged his eighth child, Katy Lee Carroll.

He had discovered her existence about five years earlier but kept the news private. Katy is a real estate agent based in Coffs Harbour, NSW.

While a blended dynamic such as this could be overwhelming, Jimmy cherishes his family more than anything.

"I can't regret anything I've done, because everything I've done has brought me to this space, with this family," he told The Apple & The Tree podcast in 2024.
