A 74-year-old man in a bow tie just explained why women "must earn less than men".

A 74-year-old man in a bow tie has given the most compelling justification for the gender pay gap we’ve heard yet:

“Women”, Polish politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke declared, “must earn less than men, because they are weaker, they are smaller, they are less intelligent”.

The right-winger made the comment to a near empty parliament in Warsaw on Wednesday during a debate on the topic.

It didn’t sit well Spanish socialist Iratxe Garcia Perez, whose tiny brain obviously failed to comprehend why its owner ought to receive a tiny packet.

"According to what you're saying and your theory, I wouldn't have the right to be here as a member of parliament," she bit back.

"I know you're very upset and very concerned about the fact we women can represent citizens on an equal footing with you.

“I think I need to defend European women against men like you.”

On Thursday, parliament President Antonio Tajani opened an investigation to find if Janusz Korwin-Mikke's broke the rule which says parliamentary debate "shall be characterised by mutual respect" without "defamatory, racist or xenophobic language or behaviour in parliamentary debates", according to the BBC.

But Korwin-Mikke, who also believes women shouldn't vote, was not done, despite the threat of a fine or possible suspension.

Yesterday he said it was a "20th century stereotype that women have the same intellectual potential as men,"  which "must be destroyed because it is not true".

Sounds like a crock, but what do we know? We're just weak, small, less intelligent women, right?
