A relaxed, romantic wedding in the Victorian countryside was just perfect for this cool couple.

When Jamila and Jeremy got engaged in the US last year, little did they know that just eight weeks later, they find out Jamila was pregnant. Soon after, they decided to bring their wedding forward to before their baby was born- and set about planning their wedding in just two months.

The result? Spectacular. After a romantic casual ceremony (the bride, who’s Editor-in-Chief at Mamamia, described it as “part promises and part stand-up comedy routine), guests were treated to champagne, canapés and a game of giant Jenga! But for Jamila, the best part of the day was, without a doubt, the speeches, when the couples cherished friends and family members brought the house down- and to happy tears.

Date: December 21, 2014.

Dress: Anna Campbell (annacampbell.com.au). “Knowing I’d be 18 weeks pregnant threw a spanner in the works when it came to dress shopping, but I fell in love with my beaded gown. The neckline looked a little Persian – a nice nod to my heritage.”

Shoes: Tony Bianco (tonybianco.com.au). “I wore impossibly high heels because my sister and Jeremy’s family are all very tall!”

Hair and Makeup: Hair by Lauren at Edwards and Co (edwardsandco.com.au), and makeup by Hanna Sinkinson (hannahsinkinson.com.au). “My makeup was soft and simple, and I wore my hair up because the neckline of my dress was so pretty.”

Groom’s and groomsmen suits: Shirt, pants and bow ties by J Crew (jcrew.com), suspenders by Hugo Boss (hugoboss.com). “The boys would al like it noted that they tied their own bow ties on the day!”

Bridesmaid dresses: White Runway (whiterunway.com.au). “I wanted the girls to wear dresses that matched their style.”

Planner, Flowers and Decorations: The Style Co (thestyleco.com.au). “There’s no way we would have been able to pull off our wedding without help. Sarah and her team transformed all my ideas into something truly beautiful.”

Stationary: Invitations by Joe at Esther FIsh (0481 264 292), and menus, signs and place cards by The Style Co. “I chose all the words for our signs. On one off them, we acknowledged our support of gay marriage. It was quite the talking point, but for us it was more about making our guests feel as welcome as possible.”

Ceremony and reception: Stones of the Yarra Valley, Coldstream, Vic (stonesoftheyarravalley.com. “We fell in love with the rustic setting- it’s a beautiful mix of older buildings and bright green surrounds.”

Catering and Cakes: Stones of the Yarra Valley. “The family-style dining encourages everyone to get to know people. For the  cake, we had five wheels of cheese…which I couldn’t eat because I was pregnant!”

Favours: Donations to UNICEF (unicef.org.au/charity-gifts). “Instead of gifts, we donated money to fund schoolbooks for children in the developing world.”
