James Franco has since spoken out about the scandal in an interview on Live With Kelly and Michael.

Franco said: “I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky. It’s a way people meet each other today but what I’ve learned, I guess just because I’m new to it, is that you don’t know who’s on the other end.”

James Franco reportedly tried to seduce a teenage girl on Instagram – and we have the (alleged) evidence.

The 35-year-old actor/academic/poet/President of the James Franco Fan Club is reported to have sent private seductive messages to a 17-year-old British student called Lucy. And Lucy’s a smart girl because she asked for proof that he was, in fact, James Franco. Now, predictably, she’s shared that “proof” with the whole world.

Here are Lucy’s screenshots of the conversation that she says went down by direct message between the two.

We begin with this Getting To Know Ya correspondence…

Then the subject of Lucy’s age comes up. Lucy even mentions her mama…

She’s too young and sweet to know that when James apparently says “What’s your #?” he’s asking for her number…

And then the really seedy-looking stuff gets going here. James asks her out and appears to gives her photographic proof that he is, in fact, James Franco…

Our favourite part of this to-and-fro is when Lucy calls James Franco “so dodgy” and he asks her “not to tell” and then SHE DOES TELL…

So how did all of this even happen? As so many celebrity scandals do these days, this one began with an innocent selfie.

Lucy was outside a theatre in New York when she took some snaps of James Franco on her iPhone. Naturally, she turned her phone around and took a selfie. A #Franco selfie.

Apparently, James Franco spotted her in the crowd and yelled out to her, telling her to tag him in the photos on Instagram so he would be alerted to them. And that’s when he allegedly began private-messaging her all of the above.

James is making a film of his own book Palo Alto… And the plot is a little too close for comfort to the reports of this real-life scandal. The film features a teacher who has a relationship with a 14-year-old student.
