Before she died, Isabel worried her son would miss her. So she wrote him a letter.

When Isabel Veloso welcomed a baby boy into the world in late December 2024, she had one wish: "May God allow me to see my son grow up."

She never had the chance.

This week, the 19-year-old Brazilian influencer's husband, Lucas Borbas, confirmed she died, following a four-year battle with Hodgkin lymphoma.

Since her diagnosis in 2021, Isabel had been incredibly candid with her four million followers, using her platform to urge people to advocate for their health and know the signs of cancer.

There were moments of pure hope, like in early 2023 when she shared she was cancer-free. But the reprieve was short-lived. The disease returned just months later.

Refusing to let cancer rule her life, Isabel married her husband in April 2024. By August, they shared the news they were expecting their first child.

They named him Arthur.

But it's a letter Isabel penned to her son back in October, written ahead of a bone marrow transplant, that has gone viral.

It was a message intended for a temporary absence, but in the wake of her death, it's become her permanent legacy to the son she loved so much.

"Hi, my love. Mommy isn't with you right now, and I know you feel it," she wrote, per the English translation.

"I know you miss my lap. And that scent you're searching for in the air isn't there yet...

"But I want to tell you something: I haven't gone away ... I'm here, inside everything.

"In your pillow, in your favourite toy, in the sounds the house makes when you wake up.

"And most importantly… I'm inside the reason that made me get up again: you, my love."

While Isabel told Arthur she was going away to become "strong again" so she could hold and play with him, her final lines now read like a guided map for Arthur's future without his mother.

"If anyone is reading this to you, know this: Mummy is listening too, wherever she is," she wrote.

"And what she wants most is to tell you: You were never alone. Not in the ICU, not now. Because Mummy's love… remained. Completely, and in every way. I love you more than any distance can measure."

Confirming the news of Isabel's death on the weekend, Lucas shared the news of his wife's death over the weekend, saying, "The pain is too great for words".

"Isabel is gone, and with her goes a part of me. But the love... love doesn't die," he wrote on Instagram, as per the English translation.

"She was light in the darkest days, it was courage when everything said to give up, it was love when life seemed unfair. She lived hard, loved deeply, fought for as far as humanly possible — and beyond.

"Nothing we lived through was in vain. Our story was real, beautiful, and true. We built a family, a love that does not depend on time or physical presence to exist. She lives in me, she lives in our son, she lives in each person who has been touched by her strength."
