"Is my partner's porn a step beyond 'normal'?"

The Prude and The Pornstar only has one rule. And that is, there are no rules.

Nothing is off limits, and this week’s listener question was no exception. It comes from a woman, Alyssa, who saw that her husband had been watching “mother-son porn” and wanted to know if that meant he has those thoughts in real life… and what she should do about it.

Madison Missina has some answers for Alyssa’s dilemma: (Post continues after audio.)

Alyssa’s question is quite a hot topic. In America, the number one searched term is ‘step mum’.

First up, Madison explains that the porn her husband was watching is most-likely staged by actors and  not real (well, thank God for that).

Madison also says that Alyssa’s husband could have accidentally watched it –  going down a rabbit hole and not realising the title of what he was watching… but that if he is deliberately watching it, our listener needn’t necessarily ring the alarm about it. Yet.

“He might not actually want to have that experience in real life, but there could be other reasons why someone watches it. If some other warning sign comes out, like if he wants to role play mother and son activity, maybe then speak about it. But ultimately if he’s got fantasies that involve that type of role play,  and that’s his private time, then… he’s not harming anyone.”

What are the reasons anyone would want to watch that?

“So if you think about it, mothers are caring, nurturing, authoritative figures, so maybe he is liking submission, but in a caring way, and that’s what he is getting out of the porn…it doesn’t mean he wants to have sex with his mum, maybe he wants to be dominated in a caring way. Porn doesn’t always have to be [about] exactly what it is that we’re watching”

Alyssa, what you do with that information is entirely up to you.
