5 reasons to upgrade your iPhone to iOS9 (even though you might be nervous).

If you have an iPhone, right now you’re one of two people:

1) The one who has installed the iOS 9 update or

2) The one who has retained their sanity.

Yep, we know. There have been quite a few, shall we say, frustrating moments and “hiccups” with the roll-out.

That said, those that have managed it are currently enjoying some pretty amazing new features. So to encourage you to take the plunge we’ve found the top 5 best new features that are worth the aggravation and pain. (To be honest, mine went super smooth).

1. There is a massive improvement in battery longevity.

Now, instead of having to flick your phone into Airplane mode the instant the terrifying “20% battery life left” notification comes up on your phone, you can simply change  to ‘Low Power Mode’ in your Battery settings. It’ll turn your little battery widget yellow like this:

Low Power Mode. Prepare to stress less. (Image supplied).

This means you use minimum battery power as it shuts down background activity and reduces performance to get you as much as three extra hours before the battery finally dies.

Upgrade for less of this (Image via Pinterest).

And there's another new feature for saving battery power: Facedown detection.

This feature can give you an extra hour of battery life by turning off the display when not in use. Just place your iPhone facedown to ensure the display doesn’t light up when you receive a notification, which in turn helps in improving battery life. Clever huh?

2. Unknown callers aren't so secret anymore.

We all hate the 'unknown' caller and most of us just refuse to answer them. Sometimes however, they could be really important.

With the upgrade, when an unknown person (or bot) calls, the OS searches through your email for names that might be associated with the phone number calling. When it finds a possible match, it says “Maybe [person’s name]” underneath the phone number on the screen. Sure, you still might not want to take the call but at least you'll know who you're rejecting.

3. Use your maps for public transport routes.

FINALLY, The one thing a lot of public transport users have been waiting for. It was a great decision by Apple to include this in their Map function. That's not to say it won't lead you (literally) down the garden path but it's early days.

Public transport routes now an option. Finally. (Image supplied).

4. Selfies now sit conveniently in one album.

Now, whether you want them to or not, your selfies are going to automatically be put in to an album titled 'Selfies'. So too your head shots. Basically it's a narcissism album and Apple are judging you harshly for it.  Enjoy!

Okay, so that's embarrassing. (Image supplied).

5. Check which apps are sucking your battery power.

Not all apps are created equal and you might be using a whole chunk of your battery power on something you're not even aware you're using. This brilliant new feature let's you monitor these and find the culprit. This is found in your settings > Battery, and looks like this:

Aha! So Facebook is the culprit. I knew it. (Image supplied).

But before you're still hesitant to upgrade (and believe me, with the series of events that have taken place in our very own offices this week, we totally understand your reluctance), we've taken some tweets from those who've taken the plunge. The reviews are, shall we say, somewhat mixed. Flick through the following gallery to see their reactions.
