'I dressed like the internet's boyfriends for a week and I have never gotten so many compliments in my life.'

When it comes to the internet's boyfriends, there is no one formula for success. From sultry sad boys to artsy soft boys, the internet's favourites come from all walks of hotness.

But there's one thing that remains consistent amongst them all. And that's a commitment to style. Are they all fashionable? No. Do they nail the red carpet every single time? Not at all.

But they know their personal style and they stick to it.

Think Paul Mescal and his running shorts. Jeremy Allen White and his tank tops. Jacob Elordi and his book in his pocket. And Timothée Chalamet and his, well… whatever it is he wears these days. Orange suits

The boys know what works for them and they work it hard. And it got me thinking: Could I pull off being an internet boyfriend for a week?

So, for one ambitious week (well, four working days to be exact), I decided to overhaul my style entirely. I ditched my usual routine and plunged headfirst into the curated, crush-worthy closets of the men who rule the comment section.

And the results were staggering. I have never been complimented so much in my entire life. Colleagues were calling me attractive left, right and centre. So much so that I've decided maybe it's time for a wardrobe revamp.

And, more importantly, it begs a crucial question: Are these internet boyfriends actually attractive, or do we just like their weird, uniform style? I spent the week trying to find out.

Day 1: Jeremy Allen White.

We started out simple.

I decided to dip my toe into the internet boyfriend pool with Jeremy Allen White's signature The Bear-inspired look. The tank top, the workwear pants — it's simple, rugged, and unexpectedly sensual.

This was an easy transition, a warm-up for the week, but even this subtle shift in silhouette made me feel grounded and cool.

Because the look was so simple, there wasn't as much immediate hype as the other days.

The response was muted, which made me realise that, minus White's biceps, the look isn't impressive. It definitely relies on a certain physique to sell the rugged charm.

BUT I did get a few compliments that I looked cool, proving that even the most minimal style can convey a quiet confidence.

Day 2: Timothée Chalamet.

Day two was a sharp pivot into high-fashion eccentricity, dedicated to the current prince of peculiar style, Timothée Chalamet. My layered, soft-boy-inspired outfit sparked immediate curiosity.

Lots of people asked about the tiny scarf. Many called me a fashionista. I was showered with compliments about being stylish and quirky, confirming the 'artsy' vibe was successfully translated.

The highest praise came when a friend declared: "If you were a man, I'd date you."

All in all, my attempt at Chalamet's art-house aesthetic had me feeling like a walking mood board.

Day 3: Paul Mescal.

People LOVED this one.

Moving from avant-garde to the minimalist appeal of Paul Mescal's running gear was a revelation. Mescal's uniform of boxer shorts and an oversized blue button up top proves that sometimes, less is definitely more.

The best part? The pin-striped boxers are a hit! And the confidence boost was instant.

"You look so hot!" one of my fellow workmates said.

This outfit felt effortless chic — very cool girl. One of my colleagues even said I looked like I was shooting for an elevated underwear or luxury pyjama ad and I will take that.

It taught me that genuine comfort and a relaxed attitude are just as important as a tailored suit when chasing that crush-worthy confidence.

Day 4: Jacob Elordi.

Last but not least, I finished the week by channelling the master of moody airport style, Jacob Elordi. I give you my rendition of his famous, instantly iconic airport getup.

The oversized jacket, the quiet accessories, the presence of a well-worn book casually sitting in the pocket — it's a look fit for a serious actor.

In true form, this was the outfit that caused the most commotion. Jacob Elordi knows what he's doing. And I instantly felt like a hot internet boyfriend for sure.

If we're being honest, the book was the real MVP. Yes, it was perhaps a little performative on my part, but it was giving cultured and well-read.

The feedback from my work friends was the clearest sign of success: "I find you the most attractive in this outfit."

So there you have it. After four days of unprecedented compliments, the answer to my question became clear.

Maybe we're all a little bit basic. Maybe becoming an internet boyfriend isn't as unachievable as we thought. And maybe the real reason we're attracted to these boys is literally just their funky sense of style.

Just some food for thought — from a woman who tested the theory.
