The voices against US President Donald Trump’s temporary immigration ban have been loud and abundant.
But a new poll suggests, they don’t speak on behalf of the majority of Americans.
The poll, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, is the first to test public opinion on the controversial Executive Order signed by the President on January 27 in an effort to prevent Islamic terrorists from entering the United States.
Asked if they agree with the order “blocking refugees and banning people from seven Muslim majority countries from entering the U.S.”, 47 per cent of those surveyed said they did.
That’s six per cent more than the 41 per cent who disagreed.
On top of that, the poll found 31 per cent of Americans feel “more safe” because of the ban, compared with 26 per cent who said they felt less so.
