'I'm really upset.' I'm A Celebrity's campers are baffled so many women have been eliminated.

The chance of this year's I'm A Celebrity crowning a queen of the jungle has continued to dwindle for one obvious reason: the women are being eliminated en masse.

I'm sorry, but what is going on with the voting this season? Why are so many amazing women being given the boot?

The first five celebrities eliminated from the jungle were all women: Samantha Moitzi, Nicky Buckley, Shayna Jack, Sigrid Thornton and Tina Provis. Dave Hughes was the first man to be sent home — over three weeks after the premiere.

Before the second last episode, there were only two women left in the jungle with four of the boys. As we head into the finale, Reggie Sorensen and Geraldine Hickey are both still in with a chance.

The public's decision to eliminate most of the women before sending home any of the guys is something that didn't sit right with actress, Sigrid Thornton. "One thing that I do find kind of strange — I think there will be a lot of commentary about this — is that there are only two women left in the jungle. That is weird," she told Mamamia.

The reason for this voting pattern is something she couldn't put her finger on. "I don't know if it's the voting system, what packages and clips are shown on what night, who's voting and why, or social media followings," she said.

"I do find it unfortunate, let's put it that way, that there are only two women left. I don't know what to put that down to, but I think it's quite fascinating to observe."

Thornton noted that she thought it was important to call out the clear gendered bias this season. "It's good to talk about it because the more you talk about anything that's a challenging situation for societal norms, that is good," she said.

"It's good to get it out in the open."

Another recent eliminee, Tina Provis, was also left confused by so many women being voted out. "I'm really upset about it," Tina told Mamamia.

"I woke up today and I was like, 'I think I'm gonna go,' but then when Sigrid left too, I was really shocked. I honestly was really disappointed to see that there were only two women left in there."

Like Sigrid, Tina has been left baffled by the public's decision to eject so many incredible women from the jungle.

"We had a lot of strong women in there, great women, and I'm not sure what Australia is doing or why they're trying to get rid of us, or they really just want to see a bromance flourish?" she said.

"It's a shame. I actually can't get my head around it. I don't know what Australia is saying, but I really would like to see some women make it to the end, and it's sad that there's only two of us there now. It's a great group of people either way, there are some great men in there."

Tina saw a parallel in how the camp was divided between the men and women competing against each other in a past week of challenges. "There was the whole thing and it did come to a head. I remember one evening after the challenge, I cried…. why are we doing this?" she said.

"I felt like it was just a little bit of a reminder that there are times that women are not afforded the same opportunities, or we have expectations that men don't face."

Sigrid has thrown her support behind the last two women, Geraldine and Reggie, to win, but is also championing Max Balegde and Sam Thaiday.
