The I'm A Celeb cast told us the disgusting things they had to deal with that we didn't see on TV.

Living in the I'm A Celebrity jungle camp wouldn't exactly be a five-star experience, but according to recently eliminated contestants, it's even more revolting than what we see on our screens.

Of course, this isn't brand new information.

Last year's cast gained attention after it came to light that a few of the campmates had been going over a week without showering (I'm looking at you, Frankie Muniz and Skye Wheatley).

This year's crew of celebs have shared even more gross details about their jungle experience and fair warning: don't read this story if you've just eaten or plan to eat again.

Tina Provis told Mamamia all about the shared toilet situation in, err… a lot of detail. She broke down what it was like to empty the short and long drop toilets.

"The big drop toilets go into these garbage bins, they're literally just garbage bins. When you carry them out, the poo one is like nothing you've ever smelt in your life. That's a lot of poo, it's heavy — like 13 people's poo, which is absolutely disgusting," she said.

The short drop toilet has its own issues. "The pee one, it like sloshes around because it's like a liquid. If you drop it, you're screwed."

Sigrid Thorton didn't mind the toilets, but she struggled trying to maintain any privacy in the showers.

"I felt I had a slight advantage as I have camped, and I've seen much worse toilets than we had in the jungle," she said.

"The most difficult aspect was the constant observation though. To be clean, to have a shower, you were being filmed in the shower, it was an athletic act."

Thankfully, Sigrid assured us that this year, people did shower.

"I think a lot of people chose not to shower [last season]. We are filming at a slightly early time in the year. I'm pretty sure that last year was a bit cooler," she said.

For Olympian Shayna Jack, she couldn't believe how many insects she ingested by just living in the jungle.

"The grossest thing for me in the jungle was that as I was talking, I would swallow a bug," she said.

Sleeping without being covered in bugs was especially difficult. "You'd be kind of asleep and a bug would land on you," she said.

"It's 40 degree heat, you've got sleeping bags that you wanna be inside because you keep getting touched by bugs, but then you wanna be out of it because you're just so goddamn hot and sweaty. It was bugs everywhere."

But the grossest moments came from the dreaded tucker trials.

Tina admitted she was happy to do an eating challenge so her 'jungle experience was fulfilled', but that was until she saw what she'd be eating.

"I could have smashed down the brain but the second thing that came out on the platter for me was a full rat. It looked at me, and it was a full dead rat with fur and a face," she said.

"I start crying because I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, I'm about to pick up a rat and eat it. I don't know if I want that on the internet because it's gross and it's against my values in some way'… I can't eat a whole rat."

Thankfully, it was just the tail Tina had to eat but that has its own rather, disgusting aftermath.

"The tail had all these bones through it. I'm crunching down these bones. I swallow half… at that point, I just vomited the whole thing back up because I was like, I'm not having this in my body. This needs to get out of me immediately," she said.

"I have a wire retainer on the back of my teeth, and I had bones all through my retainer for the next couple of hours until I could really scrub them out. Gross!"

Tina added, "I don't think I will ever forget the crunching through my teeth."

Me neither, Tina. Me neither.

Just when I thought this couldn't get more grim, Sigrid revealed something that viewers might not think about.

"I just couldn't believe that, in the first eating challenge, you weren't allowed to throw up. If you did, you were gonna lose the opportunity to kind of gain more food, right?" she said.

"Food is pretty important, much more important than I expected. [Celebs were] having to put their vomit back in their mouth and swallow it — that to me is pretty grotesque."

You think, Sigrid!

"I thank the Lord above I did not have to do that. I did some weird things, but that wasn't one of them," she added. I am simultaneously afraid and revolted!

After the recent double elimination of Geraldine Hickey and Max Balegde, only three celebrities remain in the South African jungle.

The remaining contestants competing for the crown on Sunday's finale are Matty J, Sam Thaiday, and Reggie Bird.
