Where is the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot being filmed?

The upcoming movie is actually being filmed in our own backyard. That's right — I Know What You Did Last Summer is filming in Sydney, Australia.

While we've had a fair share of big Hollywood productions taking place in Australia — namely Anyone But You and countless Marvel films — this feels even more exciting, given several of our favourite 90s heartthrobs have relocated to Australia for the project.

Both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. have moved to Australia while the movie is shooting. Freddie has also brought his wife — the iconic Sarah Michelle Gellar — down under, along with their two children. Famously, Gellar was also in the original I Know What You Did Last Summer (it's how she met Prinze Jr.) but sadly won't be returning for the requel (spoiler: she didn't make it out alive).

Just two weeks ago, Gellar shared a snapshot from the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer on her Instagram.

The original I Know What You Did Last Summer follows four teenagers who, after accidentally hitting a man with their car, cover up the incident. A year later, they are stalked by a mysterious figure who knows their secret and begins picking them off one by one. The film blends suspense, mystery, and slasher horror as the friends confront the deadly consequences of their past actions.

We are yet to receive any specific plot details about the reboot, but in classic horror movie reboot form, we are anticipating that it will follow a similar format to the original films.

When is the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot coming out?

While there seems to be a lot under wraps when it comes to the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, we do have a release date already. Sony Pictures is set to release the film's sequel on July 18, 2025.
