'60 seconds after saying, "I do", my husband said two words that ruined everything.'

It's a day many of us have dreamed about since childhood. Walking down the aisle to meet the love of our life at the altar, ready to spend the rest of our days together.

Whether you're a fan of elopements or extravagant ceremonies, there's one pretty simple thing we all want on the big day: to be happy.

But for one bride, that happiness only lasted 60 seconds before her new husband squashed it.

The woman said she was inspired to tell her story on social media after hearing from countless others who "realised the day they got married they had made a mistake".

"My husband ruined our wedding day," she said in the viral video.

Ten years ago, the woman and her boyfriend, who had been together four months, decided to get married. She wasn't a fan of a big white wedding, so they headed to the courthouse to seal the deal.

"Everything was good. I was feeling good, I was very happy," she recalled.

But it didn't take long for that all to change.

"We had been married 60 seconds and the judge said, 'I love doing these ceremonies and it would make me so happy if you guys came back to see me in 10 years and let me know everything's good'," she said.

The bride said she'd love to do that and joked, "Hopefully, I fit back into the same dress".

It's a lighthearted comment that's so obviously meant to be playful. But her husband just had to chime in and ruin the day.

"My husband of about 70 seconds did not miss a beat and said, 'or smaller'," the woman added.

She said she turned to look at her husband, but he wasn't laughing. It didn't appear to be a joke.

The man had been married less than two minutes and had already made a comment about her body.

"I died inside. I froze like a statue. I just felt like I couldn't even breathe," she continued.

"My heart just broke. I looked at the judge and he was floored. He said, 'Son, you just got married' and that's when I was like, 'Oh, I'm not crazy. My intuition is correct. I am not crazy. This is bad'."

Despite this, and a gut feeling that something wasn't right, the woman decided she wanted to work it out and stayed with her husband for a decade before they ultimately divorced.

She believes that two-word comment was a red flag of what was to come — 10 years of "love bombing" and toxic behaviour.

While the viral video has since been made private, the creator has publicly shared her healing journey starting over from the divorce to help others know they're not alone.
