How to make a brilliant Facebook cover image.

Chantelle’s cover photo

Are you on Facebook? Yes? Today we’re talking cover photos. You know, that decorative, picture-thing up the top of your personal or business page.

When Facebook rolled out it’s changes last year everyone got a cover photo. At first we were all like, what are we going to do with that?

Some filled it with selfies (a.k.a. self-portaits taken usually with an iPhone) and others put photos of clouds (oh, that was just me). Today I’m sharing some fun and most importantly – FREE – ways to make your cover photo all fancy-like:

1. Pic Monkey
This one is easy! And free. And super fuss-free. Pic Monkey is a free photo editing site that lets you upload your photos in a jiffy, edit them and create collages. There are 4 templates to choose from. So easy even a monkey could do it. Maybe. Use Pic Monkey by visiting here.

2. Florabella
This is for those that like things a little bit on the vintage or pretty side, and for those that have Photoshop. Just visit Florabella’s Facebook page to download the templates (they’re only available for a limited time, so get in quick), open in Photoshop and drop the images in. Find Florabella on Facebook here.

3. MCP actions
For those that like a little order, this one’s for you. You can place your photos in, and change the background. Jodi at MCP (who I holidayed with in June and adore!) has a whole host of other designs too, all beautifully stylish.Visit here for more information and to download them for free.

Alternatively you can experiment yourself! If you have something like Photoshop or Paint you can crop a photo you like, add some text if you are a business page. For my photo I cropped an Instagram poster and added a banner and some text with my tagline. If it all seems a little bit complicated, then take the first option (Pic Monkey). It’s super simple and practically fail-safe.

Other Facebook Page image sizes you need to know:

Facebook cover photo: 850px by 315px
Facebook profile photo: 125px by 125 px (I made mine 200px x 200px so that the quality is better)
Facebook tab button: 111px by 74 px
Facebook wall photo: 403 px wide ideally, but any size is accepted

Chantelle is the blogger behind Fat Mum Slim. She likes to explore, spend time with her little family, eat cake and take photos of clouds.
