It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in possession of a brand-new matching manicure and pedicure usually feels pretty darn smug about her enviable nails.
That said, it’s equally true that the shiny put-together feeling you get from a freshly painted set of fingernails usually lasts as long as a plate of Tim Tams at morning tea.
Meanwhile, the paint on your toenails is like that ageing packet of digestives in your grandma’s pantry that no-one ever seems to make a dent in.
Why is that?
Well, according to Smith & Cult Beauty Ambassador, Sarah Bland, who was quizzed about it by Bustle, there’s a couple of reasons you can’t even make it from the salon to your car without chipping your colour.
“Polish lasts longer on toes than fingers because we use our hands as tools and they’re in water much more often than toes,” told the website.
It seems obvious, of course we constantly use our hands for everything; typing, hitching up our pants, scratching behind our ears, eating… EVERYTHING!
That said, there are a few ways you can keep your fingertips fancy for longer.
