
Let me set the scene: it's the early 2000s. I'm standing in front of the mirror in my low-rise skinny jeans, velvet platform wedges, layered tank tops pulled down over my waistband, and the icing on the cake, a chunky boho disc belt.
What. A. Look.
That's what everyone was wearing at the time, so, of course, I jumped on board.
But the truth? I never actually felt confident in it. (Thankfully, this was pre-Facebook and Instagram days and there's no photographic evidence floating around).

Not only did it not ever feel like me, the jeans silhouette never really worked with my natural shape. Back then, our options were pretty limited. It was a skinny jeans and platform wedges world, and we mostly had to make do with whatever felt "on trend," even if it didn't work with our personal style or shape.
The good news? We have seen some serious progress in terms of options.
