Somehow, over the past year or so, Hillary Clinton has transcended politics and her husband’s legacy to become cool. Really cool.
As US Secretary of State (the equivalent of our Foreign Minister) Hillary Clinton is already one of the world’s most powerful women, negotiating with global leaders on a daily basis. Before that, she was a New York Senator, First Lady of the United States and was very nearly the Democratic nominee for President – she famously lost to Barack Obama who was the one who convinced her to take the Secretary of State role.
She hasn’t always been cool. Remember when her husband was President? She copped it. Her hair wasn’t right, her involvement in his healthcare reform didn’t work and then Monica. Awkward. Suddenly this smart, accomplished feminist was reduced to the role of scorned wife who stood by her man.
But that was then. And just look at her now. Now she has nothing to lose. She’s clearly a woman in the prime of her life, enjoying her power and responsibility and – gasp – having fun with it. How rare for a politician.
Thanks to the glory of the Internet, Hilary Clinton’s cool-ness is not just the discreet knowledge of her inner circle – we all get to see what she’s really like.
Here are just a few of the reasons why we have come to love Hillary Clinton.
1. She can dance. Really.
Hillary shook her groove thing at a dinner hosted by South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane in Johannesburg, South Africa. And you know what? She was pretty damn good!
