Honey Boo Boo's mum could lose custody of 3 of her daughters.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo matriarch June “Mama June” Shannon could lose custody of her three underage daughters following reports she is dating a convicted paedophile.

Mama June, 35, stands to lose custody of the reality show’s star, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 9, as well as her older daughters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 14, and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 17.

The TLC network immediately cancelled the popular series after news broke of Mama June’s rumoured relationship with her sex offender ex-boyfriend Mark McDaniel.

McDaniel was convicted of aggravated child molestation and sentenced to 10 years in prison for allegedly molesting Mama June’s oldest daughter Anna when she was a child. Mama June and McDaniel were dating at the time of the assault.

Anna is now 20 and married with a child of her own.

McDaniel was released from Dodge State Prison in March and soon after, Mama June broke up with Honey Boo Boo’s father, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.

While Mama June has denied rekindling her relationship with McDaniel, Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services could still remove the three minors from her care.

Georgia’s Division of Family and Child Services representative Susan Boatwright told People magazine:

“Generally speaking, when we receive a report that children are living around a sex offender … it would certainly rise to the level of concern of us looking into it…If we thought a child was in harm’s way in any way, shape or form, we would develop a safety plan and make sure the children are not around an offender.”

Boatwright would not comment on any investigations into the family due to privacy laws.

Whatever happens, let’s hope that Honey Boo Boo and her two teenage sisters are kept safe and out of harm’s way.
