Should I Watch It? His & Hers, the steamy new Netflix thriller with twists you'll never see coming.

Between the latest Harlan Coben series and this brand-new sexy book-to-screen adaptation, fans of gripping mysteries are already being spoiled for choice in 2026.

Netflix's His & Hers is adapted from the 2020 bestselling psychological thriller by Alice Feeney. The novel was inspired by the concept that there are always three sides to every story: his, hers and (*DUN DUN*) the truth.

The twisty novel was a massive commercial success. Feeney's work has been translated into over 35 languages and earned widespread acclaim (run don't walk to read her bestselling Sometimes I Lie) for the writers' engrossing characters, unguessable endings and cheeky plot twists.

The six-part limited series shifts the book's UK setting to the claustrophobic heat of Georgia in the US. The plot follows Anna Andrews, a reclusive former news anchor who finds herself having to reconcile her past with her present when there's a grisly murder of a woman in her hometown.

Her meddling investigation quickly puts her at odds with her estranged husband, Detective Jack Harper, who is spearheading the official police probe. As they both chase the truth, their own dark histories and connections to the victim begin to surface, as each starts to suspect the other is guilty of her murder.

The project was developed by Lady Macbeth filmmaker William Oldroyd, who serves as director and writer alongside screenplay writers Ozark's Bill Dubuque and The Good Wife's Dee Johnson.

The series features a powerhouse cast led by Westworld's Tessa Thompson as Anna and The Bear's Jon Bernthal as Jack. They are joined by Halo's Pablo Schreiber, Big Little Lies' Crystal Fox and GLOW's Sunita Mani.

The nuanced performances in this series stop it from being another disposable Netflix thriller — the kind that is forgotten precisely a minute after the credits roll. You know the one.

Jon Bernthal is every bit the anti-hero as the weary Detective Jack Harper, bringing a depth to this role that's a cut above the character written on the page.

But it's Tessa Thompson who captivates every scene she's in with her grounded, complex portrayal of the chaotic reporter, Anna. Despite the series entering some rather silly zones narratively, the actress keeps it on track with her authentic and believable performance. Thompson also served as an executive producer on the series.

The series shifting away from the book's stuffy setting in a quintessentially British village to the sweltering environment of Dahlonega in Georgia was a masterstroke.

The novel's setting would have felt like another small-town Harlan Coben mystery, but Georgia offers fertile ground to explore the fraught racial politics of the Deep South, all told through the sort of gothic Southern lens usually reserved for an HBO limited series.

His & Hers has no right being this good. This show really is a level up from the typical Netflix offerings in the crime/thriller genre — and oh boy, they churn out plenty.

And yes, the steamy sex scenes in this are a welcome palate cleanser between the show's grislier courses.

I will say the pacing is a tad slow and the first two episodes will feel like a bit of a slog, but they each (predictably) end on a juicy cliffhanger, so you can't help but shout 'NEXT EPISODE' at well, no one in particular.

Viewers with a short attention span might not make it past the early episodes — but trust me — there are so many delicious twists and turns to come in this above-average mystery, so stick with it!

Sure, the premise being a white woman found dead isn't exactly breaking new ground in the oversaturated crime genre, but don't worry, the show soon hits its stride.

This story is about so much more than the grisly murder that was the catalyst for these characters' lives colliding.

In a sea of forgettable Netflix thrillers, you will want to remember His & Hers.
