
In the hours since Harvey Weinstein’s conviction, two words have been trending on Twitter: Me Too.
As Ronan Farrow wrote, “Today’s outcome, is the result of the decision of multiple women to come forward to journalists and to prosecutors at great personal cost and risk.”
The guilty verdict has been a long time coming for the more than 90 women who have accused the Hollywood movie producer of sexual misconduct.

Farrow of The New Yorker was one of the journalists to break the Weinstein accusations to the mainstream in 2017, alongside Meghan Twohey and Jodi Kantor of The New York Times.
Weinstein’s alleged (at that point) actions sparked a global movement and social media uprising as men and women shared their #MeToo experiences.
Today’s conviction of Weinstein marked a moment in history, with many experts labelling it the “tipping point” and “watershed” trial that will help pave the way for the future of how sexual harassment and rape is treated within justice systems around the world.
