Nasty custody battles and Netflix comebacks: The cast of Hart of Dixie, 10 years later.

When it comes to comfort shows, Hart of Dixie will always remain an elite choice.

For millennial women, watching Rachel Bilson step into a role after the heyday of The O.C., Hart of Dixie was a warming, no-frills romance series that tickled our sentimental brains in just the right way.

The show follows Zoe Hart (Bilson), a big-time New York doctor who moves to Bluebell, Alabama, after inheriting a medical practice. She's a big city girl in a small Southern town, and of course, hijinks quickly ensue. Oh, and there's a love triangle for the ages, because how could there not be?!

It was Grey's Anatomy turned all the way up to Gilmore Girls energy, and it became a cosy favourite for fans after it premiered in 2011.

After a successful four-season run, Hart of Dixie aired its last episode in 2015 and fans had to say goodbye to Zoe Hart and the friendly faces of Bluebell.

In the 10 years since the curtains closed on Hart of Dixie, here's what the cast have been up to.

The star of the show has taken somewhat of a break from acting since Hart of Dixie came to an end. Since then, she's been seen in a short guest stint on the hit series Nashville and appeared in the one-season series Take Two with Eddie Cibrian.

These days, the now-43-year-old actress has shifted her focus to podcasting, launching Welcome to The OC with her former O.C. co-star Melinda Clarke, and Broad Ideas with Olivia Allen.

On the personal front, Bilson's relationship with Hayden Christensen came to an end in 2017, and the pair are now committed to co-parenting their 10-year-old daughter, Briar Rose.

When asked about how she and Christensen were handling co-parenting, Bilson told PEOPLE in 2024 they were "in a really good place." As a result, their daughter "is so beautifully flourishing and has the support completely surrounding her from every side."

Jaime King.

Playing the role of Lemon Breeland was model-turned-actress Jaime King. She was the pageant-perfect hometown queen who would often clash with Bilson's character.

Since the last episode of Hart of Dixie aired, King has remained in the spotlight, but her acting credits have mostly been bit roles or television movie roles. Most notably, she starred as Sherri Papini in the 2023 television movie Hoax: The Kidnapping of Sherri Papini.

In her personal life, King was close friends with Taylor Swift for a time, and even named Swift as her son Leo's godmother in 2015. However, the once-close-knit friends have not been seen together in years.

Meanwhile, the 45-year-old has been embroiled in a custody battle with her ex-husband Kyle Newman. In March, King lost custody of her sons James, 11, and Leo, nine, to Newman.

In an interview on the podcast Whine Down with Jana Kramer, King said she will now be focusing her time and efforts on her legal and custody battles ahead.

"It's very upsetting, and I will do everything in my power to change this system, and it's not a will. I'm going to. There's no price to pay for freedom," she said.

Cress Williams.

In Hart of Dixie, Cress Williams played Mayor Levon Hayes, who became a close friend to Zoe Hart.

Before Hart of Dixie, Williams had starred in everything from NYPD Blue to Never Been Kissed, Grey's Anatomy and Friday Night Lights.

After hanging up his boots in Bluebell, Williams stayed booked and busy, working on The Flash, Dead Wrong and Black Lightning. He has also been flexing his stage acting chops by returning to the theatre, where he first cut his teeth before transitioning to TV and movie roles.

He has two children with his ex-wife, Simbi Khali, and another two children with his current wife, Kristen Torrianni.

For die-hard fans of Friday Night Lights, it's hard to picture Scott Porter as anyone other than star quarterback, Jason Street. But maybe it's his innate ability to capture small-town charm, because Porter was easily able to transform into local Bluebell lawyer, George Tucker.

Porter has been adding to his CV in the years since Hart of Dixie finished, but most notably he played another charming small-town guy in Netflix's Ginny & Georgia — hey, if the shoe fits!

He also shares two children — 10-year-old son, McCoy, and 8-year-old daughter, Clover — with his wife Kelsey Mayfield.

Wilson Bethel, aka Wade Kinsella, has stepped out of the Bluebell universe and into the Marvel universe since the show ended.

In a departure from playing a small-town badboy, he is now in the grimey world of Daredevil, where he's playing Benjamin Poindexter in the Disney+ series.

In 2020, Bethel married Liesl Martinez, and they have since welcomed a daughter together.

Tim Matheson.

Tim Matheson has a career that predates Hart of Dixie all the way back to the 60s — he has become one of the most notable faces in Hollywood.

Since finishing up his role of Dr. Brick Breeland, Matheson has swapped that set for a similar one over on Netflix's Virgin River.

In fact, he initially had some hesitations about taking on the new role out of fears of being typecast.

"There are some timeless storylines we can always go back to. And yes, Virgin River had some similarities to Hart of Dixie," he wrote in his memoir Damn Glad to Meet You: My Seven Decades in the Hollywood Trenches. "Even my agent had figured out the new Tim's-a-young-cowboy phase of my career had become the Tim's-a-curmudgeonly-doctor phase."

He has three children with his ex-wife and remarried in 2018 to Elizabeth Marighetto.
