The Hailey Bieber 'documentary' everyone’s talking about, and everything that happened since.

Okay, there's a lot happening on the internet this week and most of it concerns Justin and Hailey Bieber.

What's happening with the Biebers? Well, divorce rumours have plagued the couple for months and you know what hasn't quashed those pesky rumours? Hailey reportedly just unfollowed Justin (reminder: her own husband) on Instagram. Oops.

The Rhode founder has since denied the unfollowing.

"It's a glitch," she commented on a TikTok. "Didn't unfollow him. Hope this helps!"

Hmm, okay. No, it does not tbh.

The timing of the contested unfollowing was particularly suss as it came after Justin posted a series of cryptic Instagram Lives which concerned his fans.

He has since deactivated and then reactivated his Instagram.

It's all a bit alarming, and it's also all too familiar.

In January, Justin had to come out and deny reports that he had unfollowed his wife.

"Someone went on my account and unfollowed my wife," he claimed in his Instagram Story. "S**t is getting suss out here."

Hailey and Justin — who got married in 2018 and welcomed their son Jack Blues in 2024 — clearly have umm, a lot going on.

And all this follows another random cryptic incident last month where a viral TikTok post accused Hailey of reigniting tensions with Selena Gomez, Justin's ex, by allegedly liking a nasty TikTok post about the actress.

Like the unfollowing, nothing was ever confirmed by Hailey.

This brings us to another scandal, and this one is especially strange. A 'Hailey Bieber documentary' has been going viral on TikTok.

The seven-part series has reignited online vitriol about Hailey's early relationship with Justin and alleged rivalry with Selena.

Originating from a YouTube video titled Hailey Bieber's Dangerous Decade-Long Obsession, the series claims Hailey spent a decade strategically pursuing Justin, using her connections and calculated moves to win him over.

It has amassed millions of views on TikTok and YouTube, sparking widespread debate.

The documentary alleges that Hailey's journey began in 2009 when her father, Stephen Baldwin, introduced her to Justin backstage at The Today Show.

The doco portrays her as a "superfan" who used her network to stay close to him. The series cites Hailey being present at Justin's 2012 Toyota Concert Series performance and Los Angeles premiere of Never Say Never in 2011, as examples of her fixation on him.

Umm, reminder: she was also just a teenage girl and he was the biggest popstar in the world.

During this period, Justin was in an on-and-off relationship with Selena, which lasted from 2010 until their final separation in early 2018. The TikTok suggests that in 2012, while Justin and Selena were reportedly enjoying sushi dates and cinema outings on weekends, Hailey was keeping an eye on Justin.

Sounds fake but okay!

Another claim suggested that Justin had texted Selena 23 times on his wedding day to Hailey.

Then there were claims from a New York City Bieber enthusiast called Dana. In a video, Dana alleged that she operated a popular Justin Bieber fan account with more than 200,000 followers and held significant influence within the fandom community.

Dana claimed that in 2011, Hailey began following her fan account before reaching out to Dana seeking information about Justin's location.

The series didn't substantiate any of these claims.

But it does highlight supposed "coincidences," such as Hailey copying Selena's outfits (many of which are a REAL reach) and starting similar projects like cooking shows.

A lot of this is DEEPLY trivial, to be clear.

There are some parallels that are a little harder to justify.

In 2015, Selena Gomez got a small 'G' tattoo behind her ear as a tribute to her younger sister, Gracie. Just twelve days later, Hailey also got a 'G' tattoo behind her neck, a homage to her pastor's daughter.

The doco even accuses Hailey of orchestrating events to prevent Justin and Selena from reconciling during their on-again, off-again relationship. It's a lot, hey!

This bizarre YouTube doco is, of course, not some sleek BBC investigation.

The documentary has faced significant backlash for its inaccuracies as its critics have debunked several claims, including manipulated timelines and misleading evidence.

One of the people who reposted the documentary on TikTok referred to themselves as a 'Selenator' in their bio, suggesting they were pro-Selena Gomez and could be prejudiced against Hailey Bieber.

Despite the series' bias, the series has successfully amplified public scrutiny against Hailey, who has spent the bulk of her adult years dodging hate campaigns like this. According to The Mirror UK, the model is considering taking legal action against the viral TikToks.

So yep, it's a lot to take in but as it is with most of TikTok's content, everything is best taken with a grain of salt.
