Paltrow and Martin shook the celebrity world to its core when they announced their split in March 2014. The queen of Goop used the phrase 'conscious uncoupling' as a way to make it clear their divorce was amicable and shut down any potential tabloid gossip.
In the years since, it's become clear they truly meant it.
Martin accompanied Paltrow and her new husband, Brad Falchuk, on their 2018 honeymoon. Paltrow is close friends with his fiancée, Dakota Johnson.
Paltrow admitted to People Magazine that she researched the impact of divorce on children when she was trying to decide whether they should stay for their kids.
"Everybody who had come from a divorced house, they said, 'It wasn't really the divorce. Of course, it was hard to go back and forth to different houses, but that wasn't really the thing that messed me up. It was that my dad wouldn't come into the house to pick us up, or my mother would drop us at the end of the driveway, or they couldn't even be together at graduation.'"
"Those were the things that really hurt the kids," she continued. "And so Chris and I just said, 'Let's just never do that and let's try to get through the hard part of this and remember our friendship.'"
