Eye makeup this season is all about bright jewel tones: think amethyst, sapphire and turquoise. But, at the moment, we have eyes for only one colour: green.
The colour of emeralds and jade is having a huge eyeliner moment, and, while green is known for making brown eyes pop (yay, me!) you’ll be surprised to learn that green eyeliner can work beautifully with other eye colours, too.

The trick to wearing green eyeliner without going the “full Shrek” is to restrict the placement of the colour. Use green eyeliner on either your upper or lower eyelid, and not both. Or, apply it in a V shape, like Karlie Kloss in the photo below, so that the green extends from the inner corners of your eyelids to just above and below the pupil.
Make sure you’re using a green eyeliner, and not a shadow. An eyeliner will give a clean, precise and dramatic hit of green, which looks very modern and not at all like one of those girls from that noughties music video, Butterfly, by Crazy Town.
