"Each week, we go through 175 nappies and 80 bottles of milk."

Meet the mum who had four babies in nine months. 

I thought I was struggling when my three kids were under 5 – just crossing the road was almost impossible. Well this Mum must not leave the house!

I am in awe of Sarah Ward because after having four babies in nine months she is still smiling. Amazingly this 29-year old Mum gave birth to triplets when her son was just nine months old. (You do the maths)

It was less than two years ago that Sarah and her husband Benn were ready to see their GP as they had been struggling to conceive. Only days before the appointment found out she was pregnant with their first born, Freddie.

Straight after the birth of Freddie they assumed they would have the same kinds of difficulties so they didn’t bother with birth control.

“We wanted to have at least two children. Because it had taken so long with Freddie, we assumed it would take the same time again, if not longer.” Sarah told The Daily Mail.

She said she was shocked when her period was late and just eight weeks after giving birth she found out she was pregnant again. “I started shaking. I had barely recovered from having Freddie. I was still wearing maternity clothing. I was wondering how on earth I was going to cope.”

She told Reveal.co.uk that when the day arrived for her 12-week scan she was simply hoping the baby would be as healthy as Freddie. “I hopped onto the bed, lifted my top and lowered my trousers as the sonographer smeared jelly across my bump. I peered anxiously at the grainy image, as Benn squeezed my hand" she said.

To her shock the sonographer asked her a very strange question. “Do you know how many you're having?” the sonographer asked examining the screen.
Sarah told Reveal.co.uk that her mouth dropped. “I was carrying three babies, not just one.”

She says that she began crying at the realisation they would be born before her baby turned one." In fact the triplets came early and were born when Freddie was just nine-months old.

Stanley was born first weighing 1.4kg, followed by Reggie, 2.1kg and then Daisy, at 1.4kg. The triplets are now 5 months old. On a good day Sarah and her husband change 25 nappies a day. That’s 175 a week.

They also prepare 80 bottles a week for the four babies, and it takes them two hours to leave the house. “It’s like a tag team operation.” She told The Daily Mail.

But she wouldn’t change it for anything. After her fertility struggle and the thought she may never be a mum she says that life is exhausting but rewarding. “We don’t dwell on the hard work. I love babies so I feel like the luckiest mum in the world.”

One thing is certain though – four babies nine months apart is enough for her. She says they have learnt their lesson about her fertility.

“We won’t be trying for another any time soon.”
