Marriages, divorces, and a hit Netflix series: The cast of Girls, 13 years later.

It's been over 10 years since we were first introduced to the world of Hannah Horvath, Marnie Michaels, Shoshanna Shapiro and Jessa Johansson on Girls.

The seminal series had a raw script, filled with one chaotic plot point after another, and wonderfully flawed characters living in New York City.

And it was all concocted by writer and star of the show, Lena Dunham.

Dunham employed the help of her friends when bringing this story to the screen, and it quickly became a pop culture phenomenon.

Over a decade on, Girls is only gaining more fans — especially amongst Gen Z viewers who have just discovered the millennial masterpiece.

Let's see exactly what the cast of Girls has gotten up to since the show left our screens.

Lena Dunham — Hannah Horvath.

Dunham was the creator of Girls and continued to be the brainpower behind the HBO program for six seasons.

She was also the star of the hit series, playing the free-thinking, social media-obsessed, 20-something Hannah Horvath.

Since the creation of her first TV baby, Dunham has gone on to be part of a number of films, including Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

She's also been part of series like Industry, Generation and Camping.

In 2021, Dunham tied the knot with musician Luis Felber after they had only been dating for a number of months.

In an interview earlier that year, Dunham described Felber as "the greatest person I've ever met".

Interesting enough, he has never watched Girls.

In the past decade, Lena Dunham has expanded her career beyond Girls by writing and directing the films Sharp Stick and Catherine Called Birdy, co-starring in the 2024 film Treasure, and launching the production company Good Thing Going.

Lena was initially working on a Polly Pocket movie adaptation, but after working on the script for three years, Dunham decided not to direct the film, as she didn't have the same vision that her friend Greta Gerwig had for Barbie.

This year, she has written and produced a new TV series, the Netflix romantic comedy Too Much, and has written a memoir that's set to be released in 2026.

This busy lady is also filming a romantic comedy movie titled Good Sex with Natalie Portman for Netflix. Dunham wrote and is directing the film, which also stars Mark Ruffalo, Rashida Jones and Meg Ryan. The film is expected to be released on Netflix in 2026.

Allison Williams — Marnie Michaels.

Marnie was a divisive character on Girls, but her impact as the complicated bestie guiding Hannah throughout the series was unforgettable. In hindsight, their friendship over six seasons — which undeniably went through its fair share of heartache and troubles — was impeccably shown.

Since wrapping up Girls in 2017, Allison Williams has become a powerhouse actor on her own.

In the last 10 years, Williams has built a reputation as a leading actress in the horror genre, starring in acclaimed films like Get Out, The Perfection, and producing and starring in M3GAN and its sequel M3GAN 2.0, this year.

She also took on major television roles in A Series of Unfortunate Events and Fellow Travelers.

In 2019, Williams split from her husband of four years, Ricky Van Veen. They released a joint statement to Page Six, saying: "With mutual love and respect, we have made the decision to separate as a couple. We are grateful for the friendship we have and will continue to have."

Williams is engaged to actor Alexander Dreymon, and they welcomed a child together in 2021.

Zosia Mamet — Shoshanna Shapiro.

Originally, Shoshanna Shapiro (our favourite millennial on Girls) was meant to be a temporary character — that is, until Mamet took the role and completely made it her own.

According to reports, Dunham was so transfixed by the way Mamet played Shosh, that she decided to make her a permanent part of the series.

While she began as the timid, lonely and younger cousin of Jessa, by season six, Shoshanna had become the Girl Boss of the show.

Mamet has since had a recurring role as Ani Mouradian in The Flight Attendant.

In the past decade, she has maintained a varied acting career, leading Netflix's The Decameron, plus appearing in films such as Alone Together, Molli and Max in the Future, and Madame Web, and continued voice work in animated series like Trolls Band Together and StuGo.

In 2018, she also co-wrote and starred in the first episode of the Fabled series. She also occasionally performs with her band, Chacha.

In 2013, Mamet met and began dating fellow actor Evan Jonigkeit.

In a 'real-life imitates art moment', the pair ended up acting alongside each other in Girls as one another’s partner.

In a rare interview, Jonigkeit admitted how bizarre it was to film sex scenes with his own partner.

"It's really weird,” he told Paper Magazine. “There's 40 people in the corner of the room and you're like, 'Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and take my pants off now. Zosia, you ready to go?'"

He added, "It's a little uncomfortable but everybody on the set is a pro and we had a good time. Everyone was really chill about it."

The pair have also acted alongside each other in the off-Broadway show Really Really, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the 2016 film, Kate Can't Swim.

In 2016, the pair tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony.

Jemima Kirke — Jessa Johansson.

Jessa was undeniably the coolest millennial on Girls — albeit with a lot of baggage.

While she may have roamed around Europe, opted out of using social media and pulled off baggy nighties and fedoras with grace, viewers came to know every dark and layered aspect of Jessa throughout the show. And we loved it.

Kirke has continued acting after Girls wrapped up. In a more recent role, she played the headteacher Hope Haddon in season three of Netflix's Sex Education.

She also starred in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney's best-selling book, Conversations With Friends.

Kirke has also played Regan Hamilton Sweeney in City on Fire, and appeared in indie films like Untogether, as well as directing some music videos.

The 40-year-old remains active as an artist and painter. In her personal life, she was married to Michael Mosberg (divorced 2017) and later to musician Alex Cameron, but they have since divorced.

The actress has two children with her first husband Mosberg: a daughter, Rafaella, born in October 2010, and a son, Memphis, born on November 20, 2012.

Adam Driver — Adam Sackler.

Driver may be a Hollywood powerhouse in terms of how his acting career is going, but it all began with his portrayal of the polarising character Adam Sackler in Girls.

When Girls was wrapping up, Driver said that filming his last scene for the series was "bittersweet".

"I don't think it will really hit me 'til the next summer when I'm not doing it," he said at the time.

Driver has since become one of Hollywood's most acclaimed actors. He starred as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, received Oscar nominations for BlacKkKlansman and Marriage Story, and led films such as The Report, Annette, The Last Duel, House of Gucci, White Noise, Ferrari, and Megalopolis.

In his personal life, Driver is married to actress Joanne Tucker, and they have one child.

Andrew Rannells — Elijah Krantz.

Andrew Rannells stole our hearts when he took on the character of Elijah Krantz.

Not only was he a fiercely loyal friend to Hannah (despite a weird relationship and breakup), he was also the perfect mix between utterly savage and completely vulnerable.

Rannells has since lent his voice to his cartoon series Big Mouth. He has also starred in The Boys in the Band and The Prom, Black Monday and Amazon's Invincible.

On stage, he earned acclaim for Gutenberg! The Musical! and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Tammy Faye. He made his directorial debut with Modern Love, and has published two memoirs.

Recently, Rannells reunited with Dunham, starring as Jameson in her Netflix series Too Much, playing Lena's character's ex-husband.

Rannells has been in a relationship with fellow actor Tuc Watkins since 2019, after they met on the Broadway production of The Boys in the Band.

Alex Karpovsky — Ray Ploshansky.

Alex Karpovsky remains best known for his beloved role as Ray on Girls, a character cherished by fans for his dark humour and emotional depth.

Over the past decade, he has continued to build a multifaceted career as an actor, director, writer and producer.

He starred in series like Homecoming and Angelyne, directed episodes for television, and developed projects for platforms including Amazon, FX, and Hulu.

Karpovsky also co-created the acclaimed miniseries Oh Jerome, No.

Karpovsky keeps his personal life private; there is no public information about his dating status.
