Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell, 44, announces pregnancy with husband Christian Horner, 42.

Sharing an image to her Instagram and Twitter accounts that read “God bless mother nature” in the late hours of Monday evening, former Spice Girl Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) has announced that she’s pregnant with baby number two.

But what should be a joyous announcement for the 44-year-old has sadly been met with mixed online reviews.

Married to Formula One boss Christian Horner, 42, the pair released a joint statement following the announcement, saying they are both “absolutely delighted to announce they are expecting their first child together.”

The release continued, “The couple is overjoyed with the good news and cannot wait to welcome the newest addition to their family.”

Having been married in a traditional church ceremony in March 2015, both Geri and Christian have children from previous relationships, 10-year-old girl, Bluebell Madonna and three-year-old girl, Olivia.

Sadly, within moments of sharing the happy news, commenters began calling out Geri’s claim that “mother nature” was to be thanked and called her age into question.

“You’re a disgrace getting pregnant at your age, absolutely disgusting,” one commenter wrote on Instagram.

“44 years old and pregnant?” another asked incredulously.

Thankfully, though, the wishes were overwhelmingly positive.

“Congratulations Geri!!! So happy and excited for you and Christian and of course Blue,” one well-wisher wrote.

“This is the best news I have seen all day! So excited,” another chimed in.

The pair is yet to announce a due date, but it’s fair to say that the countdown to the world’s 12th spice baby is definitely under way.
