Last night we found out the ending to Georgia Love‘s Bachelorette fairytale – even if it wasn’t quite the result some of us were expecting.
And if you thought the colour of her finale dress looked a little Disney-esque, you weren’t far off the mark.
Designed specially for Love by Moira Hughes Couture, one of Sydney’s leading bridal designers, the designer and Bachelorette styling team had one inspiration in mind – a ‘modern day Cinderella’.

"We wanted to create a real show-stopping design that was different from anything else she had worn in the show. The televised finale was rumoured to be overseas so her gown had to travel well and have the wow factor," Hughes told Mamamia.
"We gave Georgia a sneak preview of the new collection and she absolutely loved some of our more fitted designs. Stringy and I customised the style to show off her amazing figure, incorporating a fashion split to highlight her best feature.
"The Disney blue colour looked perfect on Georgia and which then inspired the delicate French lace used to sculpt the waist and hips."

The one-off creation, which Hughes estimates is worth over $10,000, was covered with lace flown over from Europe to be especially appliquéd and hand sewn by the labels' lace expert in Sydney, where all the gowns are entirely hand made.
'The lace continues from the bodice, onto the skirt and delicately beaded branches reach down along her sheer train to such a great effect," she says.

And the material was chosen to ensure Love wasn't left with any embarrassing sweat marks in the Singapore humidity.

"It was made in a pure silk crepe which moved beautiful but is breathable and light for a big day of filming.-Even the lining is silk meaning it remained light and breathable even in humid weather," she says.
Knowing that every angle would be on camera, the back was designed in sheer silk "to give the illusion of floating lace."

The deadline for the special creation? Erm, not long at all.
"Due to Georgia's hectic schedule we had to make the very limited time with her count! Fortunately we have such an incredible team that worked late into the night to ensure everything was ready within only two weeks," says Hughes.
A surprising aspect that took the longest was nailing that split.
"We spent so much time walking up and down our Paddington boutique to get the split just right and finished the gown with crinoline in the hem. This technique allows the hem to silk out beautifully with a slight ripple throughout," she says.

According to Hughes it was Love at first sight for Georgia.
"She just kept saying 'I love it so much' over and over! Our Paddington boutique is filled with natural light and huge mirrors so we were able to admire it from every angle.
"We all just stepped back with huge smiles - this was definitely the gown to find love in!"
While this particular gown was custom made for Love by Hughes, who has worked with both Pallas Couture and Johanna Johnson before launching her own label three years ago, there is good news if you liked the look of it.

"Keep an eye out for the 'Heather' gown in our new collection to be released very soon," hinted Hughes.
"This collection focuses more on the modern bride who want a timeless, flawless gown with a modern and unique twist."
