George Michael's cause of death has been confirmed, his boyfriend lashes out.

George Michael’s boyfriend has lashed out after a coroner confirmed the 53-year-old died of natural causes.

Authorities have confirmed the Wham! musician died from a disease of the heart and a fatty liver, quashing the need for police to investigate his death any further.

Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, who found him dead inside his home in the English town of Goring-on-Thames on Christmas Day, took to Twitter after hearing the news.

Appearing to be addressing those fans who speculated about the pop icon’s death and their relationship, the Australian-born man wrote, “F*** YOU” and “The Truth is out”.

Fawaz referenced the hate he had received from fans, as well as the leaking of his call to emergency services after discovering Michael had died.

In the wake of Michael’s death, Tweets from Fawaz’s account suggested he had taken his own life, but the 43-year-old insists he was hacked and did not post them.

The announcement means that Michael’s body will finally be returned to his family and the late singer will be laid to rest at a funeral.

It is unlikely a full toxicology report will ever be released to the public with only his family likely to see it.

Senior coroner for the area of Oxfordshire, Darren Salter, announced the post mortem results.

“As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further enquiries,” he said.

An initial post-mortem examination was reportedly “inconclusive”, leading to a delay in the funeral as further tests were carried out – including a toxicology test to determine whether drugs contributed to his death.

Michael had suffered health scares and fought drug addiction for years.

The first condition named as causing the singer’s death – dilated cardiomyopathy – is a disease of the heart muscle which decreases its ability to pump blood around the body because the main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, is enlarged and weakened.

Myocarditis is inflammation in or around the heart and is usually caused by a viral, bacterial or fungal infection. Severe cases weaken the heart and can lead to heart failure.

Fatty liver disease – risk factors for which are drinking excessive amounts alcohol or being overweight – is a build-up of fat in the liver.
