For fans of the popular HBO drama series Game of Thrones, the launch date of a new season is a much-anticipated annual event. For the last six years, the special day has usually fallen in April.
Unfortunately, it’s looking like the launch date of season seven might be a little different. In July 2016, it was revealed that the season was going to be delayed due to the weather not being cold enough to film, y’know, the winter scenes.
“We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a little bit later,” the show’s creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss said at the time.
“So we kind of pushed everything down the line so we could get some grim grey weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”
And since that update we have had no further clues as to when we’ll actually find out what happens next to all out favourite characters. That is, until now.
According to a Game of Thrones Twitter fan account named ‘GoTSources’, a premiere date was leaked on the well-regarded entertainment database website IMDb earlier this week.
How exciting, right? TV and movie bible IMDb is a credible source, right? Time to start planning our imminent viewing parties, right?
WRONG.
The Game of Thrones IMDb page was updated to say that Game of Thrones would premiere of the 25 of June, 2017. FIVE WHOLE MONTHS AWAY.
