Gal Gadot thought she had an ‘excruciating’ headache during pregnancy. It was much worse.

Gal Gadot has superhuman strength and healing abilities — at least when she's portraying Wonder Woman. Though, her latest revelation suggests that her abilities extend beyond the screen.

As the year comes to a close, the 39-year-old mother-of-four agonised over whether to share her story. And how she would even put it into words.

Eventually, she decided to take the leap and interrupt the social media highlight reel we have grown accustomed to.

"This year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections," Gal wrote on Instagram. "I've wrestled with how, or even if, to share a personal story.

"At the end, I decided to let my heart guide me. Perhaps this is my way of processing everything, of pulling back the curtain on the fragile reality behind the curated moments we share on social media."

Gal added that, by sharing, she hoped to "raise awareness and support" for others who have similar stories.

"In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain," the actress said.

"For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live."

The 39-year-old was rushed to hospital. Within hours, she underwent emergency surgery.

"My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, meaning 'my light', wasn't chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron [her husband] that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel."

Gal went on to thank the team of doctors who helped her through the turbulent time.

"I made it through and began the road to recovery. Today, I am fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life I've been given back," she said.

"The journey has taught me so much. First, it's vital to listen to our bodies and trust what it's telling us. Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry deeper meaning, and being attuned to your body can be life saving."

The Snow White actress finished her story by sharing the statistics.

"I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT (develop a blood clot in the brain)," she wrote.

"It's so important to identify early because it's treatable. While rare, it's a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it.

"Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing."

Gal was inundated with messages of support from friends and fans.

"Thank you for sharing this, I am so happy you are okay ♥️," wrote fellow actress Gwenyth Paltrow.

"You are a brave strong and inspirational woman. To your health ❤️," a second wrote.

"She's Wonder Woman for a reason," another added.

Gal met her husband Jaron Varsano in 2006 in the Israeli desert while the pair were at a "yoga retreat type of party".

"We started talking at 10 p.m., and we kissed at sunrise and we held hands on the drive back to Tel Aviv. At that moment, we were just glued together. It was beautiful," Jaron told Vogue.

They got married in 2008, and welcomed their first daughter, Alma in 2011. Six years later, Gal and Jaron's second child Maya was born, followed by Daniella in 2021. Their youngest daughter, Ori, was welcomed this year, on March 6, 2024.

The actress is most recently portraying the 'Evil Queen' in the live-action adaptation of Disney's Snow White, set to come out next March.

Before this, Gal portrayed Wonder Woman for seven years. Appearing on Jimmy Fallon, the actress once said her daughters were "very proud" of their mum portraying the superhero. Though, we venture to guess, she is their superhero even without the cape.
