Remember this guy?
Andrew Keegan, aka Joey Donner or the ‘other guy’ from 10 Things I Hate About You, was a huge celebrity crush of ours from his days of shooting nose spray commercials and being a douche in our favourite ‘90s movie.
But if you’ve ever caught yourself wondering what this handsome fellow has been up to in the 16 years (yes, SIXTEEN YEARS) since the movie came out, you’ll probably be a bit sad, surprised and very confused when we tell you.
He, ah, well, started his own cult religion. So there’s that…
In a profile with Vulture, Keegan explains his cult, Full Circle. (He claims his culty-cult is not a cult, but we don’t believe him.)
“Hi, I’m Andrew,” he says, with a sweet, humble smile. “We love you, Andrew!” the group chants back. Keegan bows his head slightly and touches his palms together in a prayer-shaped thank-you gesture. “I love you all too,” he replies. “Today, I’m here to activate high vibes.” The circle nods approvingly and responds in unison: “And so it is.”
His religion started in the most batshit-crazy way… no offence, Keegan. According to the 36-year-old, he dug a hole in the ground in 2013, placed a crystal in the hole and made a solemn promise to himself. This crystal-placement occurred after a string of bizarre coincidences led Keegan to realise his “true calling”.
“I had a moment where I was looking at a street lamp and it exploded. That was a weird coincidence,” he told Vice.
“At a ceremony, a heart-shaped rose quartz crystal was on the altar, and synchronistically, this whole thing happened. It’s a long story, but basically the crystal jumped off the altar and skipped on camera. That was weird.”
