Social media responds hilariously to the Government's new anti-radicalisation kit #freekaren.

If you don’t yet know who Karen is, you’re missing out.

Karen came from a good family, but when she attended university things went downhill – she quickly went from successful family woman to tree-hugging criminal.

Her story can be found in a new Federal Government anti-radicalisation kit that links environmental activism and “alternative music” to terrorism.

The 32-page booklet, launched on Monday and due to be handed out in schools across the country, details a series of fictional case studies in which young people can become radicalised.

In the ‘Violent Extremism’ section of the booklet, a girl called Karen leaves home and becomes involved in the “alternative music scene, student politics and left-wing activism”, an alarming combination that results in her sabotaging logging machinery, being repeatedly arrested and cut off from her family.

Frightening stuff.
