FLUFF: The most famous new fringe ever, and Jennifer Lawrence disses her Oscar rivals.

1. Barack Obama was sworn in for his second term as president today but it was his wife’s fringe that everyone’s talking about.

Michelle Obama – or ‘FLOTUS’ (the First Lady of the United States), as some people affectionately call her – revealed a new hairstyle yesterday at the Kids’ Inaugural Concert.

The concert was started in 2009 to honour the country’s military families – and this year featured performances from Usher, Katy Perry and the cast of Glee.

It also featured the first lady’s fringe.

This photo went viral after she sent a message out from her new twitter account, @FLOTUS, with the picture embedded.

The actress – who has been nominated for her role in Silver Linings Playbook – hosted Saturday Night Live, and used the opportunity to make amusing observations about her competition.

About Emmanuelle Riva, from the French film Amour, she said, “An 85-year-old French lady. Um, yeah, I think I can take you.”

On The Help’s Jessica Chastain she said: “In Zero Dark Thirty you caught Bin Laden. So what? In Winter’s Bone I caught a squirrel, and then ate it.”

On Naomi Watts, she laid down the law with, “You were in The Impossible. You know what else is impossible? You beating me on Oscar night.”

And to the nine-year-old nominee for Beasts of the Southern Wild, Quvenzhané Wallis, she said, “”You think you can beat me? ‘What you talkin’ ’bout, Wallis?’ Also, the Alphabet called. It wants its letters back.”
