Schapelle toasts her release in first photos
Women’s Day have published the first photos of Schapelle Corby since her release from Kerobokan prison yesterday. Corby is seen celebrating her freedom by drinking beer with brother Michael. The image has come amidst a media storm surrounding two of the Seven Network’s most popular journalists, who are currently involved in a heated argument over the amount the station is paying Corby for an interview. David Koch has slammed his own network, Channel Seven, for their decision to pay Corby, saying on Sunrise, ‘I totally disagree with paying a convicted drug smuggler $2 million.’ Mike Wilesee, who is conducting the interview in Bali. has returned fire, denying that Seven are paying that amount. ‘It’s not up there at all.’ Schapelle is currently staying at the Sentosa Seminyak luxury resort. Convicted balcony thrower Simon Gittany has today been sentenced to a minimum of 18 years in jail with no parole and a maximum of 26 years. Justice Lucy McCallum told the Supreme Court that the murder of his fiancé Lisa Harnum was neither planned nor premeditated because 'the intention to kill was formed suddenly and in a state of rage.' Gittany's sister was forced to leave the courtroom after crying out 'In the name of Jesus Christ, he won't be doing any of that time.'
