A nine-year-old boy was left in tears after a local Santa fat-shamed him.

A nine-year-old boy has recounted his traumatic time of allegedly being bullied by a local Santa after meeting him.

Anthony Mayse, from North Carolina in the United States, said that he asked for an iPod Touch and a drone for Christmas but the only thing he said in response was devastated.

“And, when he got done, he said, ‘Lay off the hamburgers and French fries,’ and that really just disrespected me,” Anthony said to WLOS.

“It affected me so bad that I was crying when I went to bed that night.”

The experience that Anthony went through then prompted his mother, Ashley, to call on the town manager to fire the Santa in question.

“I’m hoping he’s fired because I don’t want any other kid feeling the way he did Saturday. I mean, it destroyed him,” his mother said.

Since the incident was first reported, the town manager has confirmed that an apology has been made to Anthony and his family. In addition to that, the individual playing Santa was told his services were no longer needed.

“I would say to him, like my Mumma said, ‘You don’t want to disrespect a nine-year-old. No matter what shape or size you are, it doesn’t matter.”

Anthony has apparently torn up the photo he took with the Santa on the day.
