'I need to talk about something important. Where are the music video hunks?'

I was listening to the radio on the weekend and a song came on that I hadn't thought about in years.

The nondescipt lyrics "La, da, da, da," began as Fergie began to croon "The smell of your skin lingers on me now."

It was, of course, 'Big Girls Don't Cry', one of the many hits off Fergie's life-affirming album, The Duchess.

But instead of my mind going to Fergie — her tendency to sing while kart wheeling, jazzify national anthems or her unwavering dedication to being fergalicious — it went straight to the iconic music video.

You see, lives were changed by the love story depicted in this video between Fergie and one hunksome actor, Gilmore Girls' own Milo Ventimiglia.

The heavily tattooed Milo plays Fergie's boyfriend who she had to dump because he was caught up in some dodgy drug dealings.

But more importantly, they lie in bed together and it's all very hot!

This was art.

As I was flooded with sexy memories of Milo, a different man of the moment was also reliving his music video cameo.

The White Lotus' breakout hunk, Patrick Schwarzenegger, wants to remind us all that he once played Romeo to Ariana Grande's Juliet in her music video for 'Right There'.

"That was one of the first things that I had done. I remember being so nervous," he told TODAY.com recently. In a previous tweet reply, he said his brief cameo as a music video hunk was his "finest work".

Correct.

Ariana is a longtime platformer of Hollywood hunks in her music videos. Off her last album, she featured Evan Peters in 'we can't be friends (wait for your love)' and Penn Badgley in 'the boy is mine.'

But with the exception of Sabrina Carpenter roping in her then-boyfriend Barry Keoghan to 'not embarrass her' for 'Please, Please, Please' (spoiler: he did), there's been a shift away from music videos recruiting the help of hunks.

What happened to all the music video hunks aka the handsome famous men who were a mainstay of the previous decades?

In the '90s, we had Adrian Grenier making drinks for Britney Spears in her hit '(You Drive Me) Crazy' and Mekhi Phifer being the ultimate schemer in Brandy and Monica's 'The Boy Is Mine' (which Ariana remixed in 2024).

In the '00s, Jennifer Lopez brought in her actual famous hunk boyfriend, Ben Affleck, for the meta classic 'Jenny From The Block'.

Watch Jen give her honest reaction to Ben's breakup tattoo.

Then my personal favourite: Alexander Skarsgård being poisoned by Lady Gaga in her music video for 'Paparazzi'.

Iconic doesn't even come close to describing that video.

Obviously, there are countless other examples like Wentworth Miller in Mariah Carey's 'We Belong Together' and Chad Michael Murray in 'Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)' by Alicia Keys.

This was the age of music video hunks. Plus there were even more famous leading ladies (hunkettes??) too.

Who could forget Scarlett Johansson pretending to drown with Justin Timberlake in 'What Goes Around… Comes Around', Mischa Barton looking way too beautiful first thing in the morning in James Blunt's 'Goodbye My Lover', or Jennifer Love Hewitt watching Enrique Iglesias die in the rain in love ballad, 'Hero'? Not I! We had fun!

I love them all.

There was a quick blimp in 2017 with Charli XCX's 'Boys' video — featuring hotties from Riz Ahmed to Flume and Tom Daley — and then Pink recruiting Channing Tatum for 'Beautiful Trauma', along with Noah Centineo popping up in Camila Cabello's 'Havana', but it's not enough!

GIVE US MORE HUNKS.

If the skyrocketing popularity of Patrick Schwartzenegger is anything to by, we need to be platforming these men as early as possible.

And they need to be wearing cute little costumes and acting out little storylines with the world's biggest pop divas.

Give the people (aka me, I'm the people!) what they want!
