Emmie Silbery has passed away, aged 96. The Gogglebox star's final words are truly beautiful.

Gogglebox icon and beloved TV personality, Emmie Silbery, has passed away at the age of 96.

Her granddaughter, Isabelle Silbery, confirmed the news on Instagram alongside a touching tribute.

"Our Emmie, waited for me to come home for one last snuggle. Her last words 'I'm ready to hang up now'," Isabelle wrote, alongside a beautiful portrait of Emmie.

The post continued: "She was 96, an orphan, a nurse, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, the oldest woman on TV, a great grandmother, an author and so much more. Thank you for loving her as much as we did and will forever. Have a big rest now — you deserve it."

The post has been flooded with messges from friends and followers of the family sharing their sympathies.

"Our hearts are so heavy with sadness," wrote Gogglebox co-stars Keith and Lee. "Emmie was our adopted grandmother to Keith and I as we lost our grandparents years ago. You told us so many stories about your life and now they are memories for us to keep. Rest in peace, sweetheart you'll never be far from our hearts."

Gogglebox's Matty Fahd wrote: "It was an honour to have met her. She was a truly special woman. May she rest in peace."

Angie Kent said: "Beautiful Emmie. Words can't describe what you meant to so many of us. Thank you for the countless laughs, tears, goosebumps and memories! Rest now. Your girls are so loved and looked after."

Emmie is best known as the matriarch of the Silbery family on Gogglebox Australia, where she appeared alongside her daughter, Kerry, and granddaughter, Isabelle. Affectionately called Emmie, the head of the family became a beloved TV personality after joining the show in 2016, representing three generations of women and bringing warmth, wit, and a multi-generational perspective to audiences.

She appeared on the show until 2023, when she stepped back after being diagnosed with dementia at age 94. Her departure was met with an outpouring of sadness from fans, as she had become a cherished part of the program's appeal.

That same year, Isabelle penned a touching letter to Emmie for Mamamia.

We send all our love to Emmie's family during this difficult time.
