Elon Musk just welcomed his 13th child. His response was... bizarre.

Another day, another Musk baby announcement.

Just when we thought we had the complete count of Elon Musk's offspring, conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair has revealed she gave birth to the Tesla billionaire's 13th child five months ago.

The announcement came via X (formerly Twitter), as St. Clair attempted to get ahead of impending tabloid reports about the child.

"Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father," St. Clair wrote, explaining she had kept the news private for safety reasons.

"But in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause," she added, requesting privacy for their child.

A representative for St. Clair addressed the announcement, revealing that Musk and St. Clair had been in communication about an "agreement about raising their child."

"Ashley and Elon have been privately working towards the creation of an agreement about raising their child for some time" Brian Glicklich wrote on X.

"It is disappointing that a tabloid reporter, who repeatedly ambushed Ashley and her family, made it impossible to complete that process confidentially."

"Whoa," Musk wrote on X, in response to a post that claimed, "Ashley St. Clair plotted for HALF A DECADE to ensnare Elon Musk."

St. Clair then called Musk out for responding to online "smears".

"Elon, we have been trying to communicate for the past several days and you have not responded. When are you going to reply to us instead of publicly responding to smears from an individual who just posted photos of me in underwear at 15 years old?" she wrote. Drama.

If you're struggling to keep track (we don't blame you), Musk now has 12 children (excluding his first child who sadly passed away), with five different women.

From his first six children with his ex-wife Justine Wilson, to his complicated family situation with musician Grimes, the twins he shares with a tech executive, Shivon Zilis, and now a child with St. Clair — here's everything we know about the ever-expanding Musk family tree.

Nevada Alexander.

In 2002, Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson, welcomed their son, Nevada Alexander. But at just 10 weeks old, Nevada passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

"Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing," Wilson wrote in an essay for Marie Claire in 2010. "By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead."

After three days in an Orange County hospital, his parents made the difficult decision to remove life support. Wilson held Nevada in her arms as he passed away.

Vivian Jenna Wilson and Griffin.

After the loss of Nevada, Wilson and Musk turned to IVF to grow their family. Through this process, Wilson gave birth to twins Griffin and Xavier (now Vivian) in 2004.

"I buried my feelings... coping with Nevada's death by making my first visit to an IVF clinic less than two months later. Elon and I planned to get pregnant again as swiftly as possible. Within the next five years, I gave birth to twins, then triplets," she wrote in Marie Claire.

The relationship between Elon Musk and Vivian has become increasingly strained in recent years. Griffin has stayed largely private, appearing with Musk at an American Express event in Miami in May 2024.

Vivian, who is now 21, came out as transgender and legally changed her name. In doing so, she also chose to drop the Musk surname. The decision came amid her father's public comments about transgender issues and what he controversially termed "the woke mind virus".

Speaking to NBC News, Vivian spoke about Musk and claimed he was absent during much of her life.

"He was there, I want to say, maybe 10% of the time. That's generous. He had half custody, and he fully was not there," she said.

Musk's children with Wilson have largely maintained their privacy, with only occasional public appearances alongside their father, including accompanying Musk to meet Pope Francis in 2022.

X Æ A-12.

In May 2020, Grimes and Elon Musk welcomed their first child together — a son with one of the most talked-about names in celebrity history.

The couple named their baby X Æ A-12, though they later modified it to X Æ A-Xii to comply with California law, which doesn't allow numbers in names.

While the baby is simply known as "X" day-to-day, there's been some confusion about the full pronunciation.

And it seems, Mum and Dad couldn't quite agree on how to say it — Grimes suggested it should be pronounced "X A.I.", while Musk told Joe Rogan it was "X Ash".

The unique name was apparently inspired by the Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance aircraft, which is… well, fitting.

Strider and Azure.

In late 2021, court documents revealed Elon Musk had welcomed twins with Shivon Zilis, an executive at his company Neuralink. The children were born in Austin, Texas, where Musk resided.

Based on Walter Isaacson's 2023 biography of Elon Musk, the twins' full names are: Strider Sekhar Sirius and Azure Astra Alice.

Exa Dark Sideræl.

In a 2022 Vanity Fair interview, Grimes revealed she and Elon Musk had quietly welcomed their second child, a daughter, via surrogate.

Their baby girl was given the name Exa Dark Sideræl, though she's known simply as 'Y'.

Like her brother, Exa Dark Sideræl's name also has an interesting backstory. And we didn't expect anything less.

"Exa is a reference to the supercomputing term exaFLOPS (the ability to perform 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second)," she said.

"Dark, meanwhile, is the unknown. People fear it but truly it's the absence of photons. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe,'" Grimes explained.

Techno Mechanicus.

In a surprising revelation from Walter Isaacson's 2023 biography, it turns out Grimes and Elon Musk quietly welcomed a third child together around Father's Day 2022.

Their baby boy, given the characteristically unique name Techno Mechanicus (though he goes by the much simpler nickname "Tau"), was born via surrogate.

"Tau is so amazing. He came out with eyes that could just see so deeply into your soul, with so much knowledge. He looks like a little Spock. He's definitely a Vulcan," Grimes said in the biography.

Baby Number 12.

In 2024, Musk and Zilis welcomed their third child together, which Musk confirmed in June, calling out reports that he had "secretly fathered" another child.

"As for 'secretly fathered,' that is also false," Musk told Page Six. "All our friends and family know."

"Failure to issue a press release, which would be bizarre, does not mean 'secret.'"

The name of the baby still remains unknown.

Baby Number 13.

And that brings us to baby number 13, who became the subject of great attention in recent days as it was revealed Musk had fathered a child with St. Clair.

"Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child's privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause," she wrote.

"I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment," St. Clair continued. "For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child's privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting."
