In 2016, Elly Warren died in Mozambique. Her father still doesn't know what happened to her.

Elly Warren was found dead beside a toilet block in 2016.

The 20-year-old Melbourne woman was on the trip of a lifetime in Tofo, Mozambique, and had just spent six weeks working for a marine conservation group.

She was due to fly home four days before her death.

At the time of her passing, there were conflicting reports regarding what happened.

The 20-year-old from Mordiallic, in South-East Melbourne, was last seen dropping off her bag at a beachside hostel. But she never returned.

Mozambique authorities said she had collapsed from a drug overdose and died from asphyxiation, face down in the sand.

However, the results of an autopsy conducted by well-known Johannesburg pathologist Dr Patricia Klepp, released to News Corp, contradicted this.

They claimed Elly was murdered while travelling overseas, with her facial injuries suggesting she was held face down in the sand resulting in her death.

Others reported an assumed sexual assault based on the fact she was allegedly found with her underwear around her knees.

Now, the young woman’s father, Paul Warren, has travelled to Mozambique to find answers for himself.

Warren believes the police are covering for someone, and that the evidence has been botched.

“It’s more frustrating than anything else, that nothing’s being done about my daughter’s death,” he tells Tom Steinfort on 60 Minutes tonight.

“As far as I’m concerned, they’re not doing anything over there, it’s ridiculous,” he adds.

The father said he found new evidence during his time in Africa.

“Forget about the authorities. If you want to get something done, you’ve got to do it yourself,” he tells the program.

“You’re the only person chasing answers?” Steinfort asks.

“And I got them too,” Warren replies.
