1.Election result might take a month to be finalised.
The Australian Electoral Commission can’t say when a result of the federal election will be known, but the official outcome of could take up to a month.
The result is currently too close to call. Neither the Coalition nor Labor is yet assured of enough seats form a majority government, ABC News reports.
Australia is now facing the possibility of a hung parliament.
The Coalition government suffered a 2.8 per cent swing against it at the election, but Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says he’s “quietly confident” the Coalition will secure enough votes to form a majority government, ABC News reports.
Turnbull also says he is confident of a resolution by the end of this week.
Counting resumes on Tuesday.
2. Boy critical after car slams into tree.
A five-year-old Victorian boy is in a critical condition after a car careened into a tree in regional Victoria yesterday.
A silver Holden sedan was travelling north along Wangoom-Warrumyea Road near Warrnambool, when it careened off the road about 3pm and hit a tree.
The boy, who had been riding in the car with the 35-year-old female driver, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.
