Suck at gift wrapping? Try these.

There are many things I love about Christmas – but wrapping presents ain’t one of them.

By the time I track down a seven-year-old roll of sticky tape and a blunt pair of scissors, the coordination wrapping requires is light years ahead of my clumsy self.

What results is a shoddy looking effort that leaves both me, and my present’s recipient, feeling so broken not even a delightful festive bonbon can save us.

Fear not, fellow gift-wrap-phobics! Because this year, I’ve realised the beauty of gift tags, and have set my sights on finding gifts that require precisely zero wrapping – leaving you with more time to do the important stuff… like drinking wine… and champagne.

Christmas time is too short to be spent nursing paper cuts, right? So, look at trying out these nifty ideas instead.

You. Are. Welcome.

1. Pyjamas.

Okay, okay, okay, so before you all shout “Michelle, you can’t just hand someone a pair of pyjamas at the Christmas table”, hear a gal out.

One of the cutest gifts I have ever received was from my aunty – who, God bless her, hates wrapping as much as I do – and handed me an adorable T-shirt with a ribbon tied around it.

It’s just SO SIMPLE and easy. And if you ask me, these PJs are the perfect set to pair with a bright red bow and one of Target’s beautiful gift tags. *

2. Beach bag of goodies.

An adorable idea is to buy a nice, big beach bag for your nieces, and pack it with all the summer essentials they'll need over the New Year holiday period.

They might be notoriously picky, but I guarantee you they will LOVE this present.

Pick out a cute kaftan (this one's just $25), a beach towel (you can grab this bright one for a cool $20) and a bottle of sunscreen, and you're set.

An added bonus? You can even mix this concept up. Replicate this idea with a toiletries bag* for your sister, a pamper pack for your mum or makeup set for your best friend. Viola.

3. A gift card.

Before anyone turns their nose up at the concept of giving someone a gift card for Chrissy, let's appreciate the perks, shall we?

  • It's the easiest, stress-free option
  • There is legitimately no chance your recipient will be disappointed
  • Did I mention the words easy and stress-free? Let me say them one more time: GIFT CARDS ARE SO EASY AND STRESS-FREE, YOU GUYS!

Seriously, I have no idea why gift cards get such a bad wrap (see what I did there?). Let's be real: a Target gift card is the present every non-materialistic dad secretly hopes for.

4. Home baker.

If you're on a budget, but love treating your friends to a signature batch of chocolate chip cookies or vanilla slice every year, purchasing a mason jar and filling it with your treats is a beautiful idea.

Just fasten a fancy gift tag* to the jar, and you're good to go.

5. Date night.

If you’re looking for a fantastic idea to gift your significant other, filling a beautiful wicker basket with all your date night essentials is incredibly romantic.

After attaching gift tag* with a heartfelt note to the handle, go about adding everything you need for a perfect night in.

Pop in a DVD, a punnet of strawberries, a soy candle (this beautiful one is just $15) and a box of chocolates and I swear your partner won't even remember what wrapping paper looks like.

You'll look like the most caring partner in the world, when really, you just bloody hate wrapping paper. (Don't worry, that can be our little secret.)
