This might just be the world's easiest chicken dinner.

I have a public service announcement: you can serve your roast chicken as… a roast chicken.

That's right, no more shredding these babies into Tupperware; instead, we are eating it as nature intended: straight out of the bag!

Paired with a dreamy, creamy cabbage and easy-peasy potatoes, you'll have this wholesome dinner on the table in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients:

1 x bachelor's handbag — aka a supermarket roast chook (reserve all the juices)

3 large potatoes

Olive oil

1 tbsp butter

Salt and pepper

½ head cabbage, finely sliced

3 rashers of bacon, finely chopped

¼ cup onion or shallot, finely chopped

1 clove garlic (or jarlic… garlic from the jar, obviously)

1 tbsp cream

2 tbsp gravy granules

Method:

Cut the potatoes into bite-sized chunks, drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Bake or air fry for 20 mins at 180 degrees, or until golden and crispy.

While the potatoes are cooking, add cabbage, onion/shallot, garlic, butter and bacon into a large pan and sauté on a medium heat until the cabbage has reduced in volume and the onion and bacon have caramelised. Stir in cream and set aside.

To a smaller pan or pouring jug, add the gravy granules and water as per the package instructions (about ½ cup should do).

Add the chicken juices from your bachelor's handbag and stir well.

To serve, arrange your cabbage, chicken and potatoes in your plate and drizzle with gravy.

And just like that, dinner is served in less than 20 mins!
