I didn’t expect to spend the first few days of my solo European summer holiday in tears but that’s exactly what went down. OK, no luggage was lost and no one was harmed, but I did experience the worst skin irritation of my 29 years of existence. Yes, call me a drama queen but at the time, it felt like my holiday was ruined.
It wasn’t just a bit of redness here and there, either. It was a full-blown breakout that caused dry patches, itchiness, rogue acne and a veil of tiny bumps that spanned from my lower cheeks down to my lower neck.

My skin irritation was partly the result of a pre-trip facial my skin greatly disagreed with and partly the result of a sudden change of climates, a build-up of stress and weeks of very minimal sleep.
What I desperately needed was a product that was going to be effective but not invasive. I needed to steer clear of all my favourite harsh acids and actives and instead, stick to gentle but hard-working formulas.
So, I reached for an unopened Korean beauty product I miraculously packed in my luggage: the Dr Althea 345 Relief Cream. (This is not sponsored content, I paid my hard-earned cash for this and my beauty product addiction finally paid off).
